The Doctor Yellow T4 completed its final downline test run, traveling all the way from Tokyo Station to Hakata Station.

“Seeing the message of gratitude posted on the side windows by the test crew brought tears to my eyes. There was also a message of appreciation from station staff scrolling across the departure boards.”

🚄 The Birthplace of the Shinkansen - Kamonomiya.

This monument in Kamonomiya commemorates the area’s historical role in the development of the Shinkansen. Kamonomiya, located in Odawara City, was the site of Japan’s first Shinkansen testing ground in the early 1960s. This testing facility was crucial for the development of the original Tokaido Shinkansen, which debuted in 1964 as the world’s first high-speed rail line.

Engineers and designers conducted extensive tests on experimental tracks in Kamonomiya, fine-tuning the trains’ speed, safety, and efficiency. The area played a pivotal role in shaping the Shinkansen into the revolutionary transportation system it is today. The monument celebrates this legacy, marking Kamonomiya as the “birthplace of the Shinkansen.”
