Today is the Community to Community Poker Ride. We are ready for motorcycle visitors today with our themed “Pit Stop” full of snacks. Riders will visit other communities and enjoy our beautiful region while they collect cards at each stop for a poker hand. The 2024 Peace Region Community to Community Motorcycle Poker Run is happening on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
The event for our local riders starts at the Dawson Creek Visitor Centre, where riders need to register with Visitor Centre staff.
Registration starts @ 8:00 AM
Ride starts @ 9:00 AM
This event is free to ride in, and purchasing a poker hand (or two) is optional.
Dawson Creek will have an all-day “Pit Stop/Refueling Station” themed snack bar.
Participants can sign up for a poker hand, which costs $35/hand (a maximum of two hands per bike). CASH ONLY FOR THESE ENTRIES
Travel to other communities on the list to build a poker hand.
Return your poker hand to the Dawson Creek Visitor Centre by 5PM, and you will have a chance to win half the money … with the other half donated to a local registered charity of the winner’s choosing.
Fill out a Registration Form in person at the Visitor Centre the day of the event.
Submit poker hands to the Dawson Creek Visitor Centre staff by 5 pm August 17, to be eligible to win.
The Peace Region Community to Community Poker Run is a coordinated event between the Peace Region's Visitor Centres and there are cards stops at:

Flooding between 115 Creek Campground and Callison Rd (167 km north of Fort Nelson). Road closed. Closed at 624 Km.

Cooling Centre Activated!

Due to warmer than usual temperatures, the Nawican Shelter opened up a cooling centre on July 10, 2024. The centre will continue to be open for those in need of a space to cool down until July 22, 2024. Something that is really cool about spending so much time at the visitor centre is that we often get to enjoy seeing the trains that run right behind the museum.
