When we post pictures of poachers that have been apprehended looking all too sorry for themselves we often get comments from people saying well shame man, they just trying to get food. This is a picture of a hyena we hunted that had been caught in a snare. As you can see snares are one of the most barbaric ways to kill an animal. Snares can take hours to kill animal causing tremendous amounts of pain and suffering. In this case the hyena managed to break the snares but only after causing untold damage to its neck. The chances are this hyena would have suffered for a long time before eventually dying from infection. Poachers do not care what they kill or how much an animal suffers before dying. They kill indiscriminately and will kill everything they can find if left unchecked. This is why areas that are not protected are devoid of wildlife, it has all been eaten. Hunters protect millions of hectares of wildlife habitat with funds generated from hunting. If it was not protected there would be zero wildlife. Poaching is not sustainable and it has a negative impact on population growth. Hunting has the complete opposite effect on wildlife populations. Wildlife populations increase in areas where they are hunted and protected!
