Rubyzaar is a fair trade company that works solely with artisans, tailors and crafts people primarily from Southeast Asia & East Africa. We have collaborated with these artists to bring together their traditional crafting techniques with our contemporary designs, forming unique wares, handmade from 100% natural fibers & dyes whenever possible. We personally travel throughout these regions & beyond

to handpick very specific items from select artisans, forming relationships so that we can share their culture and talent with you. Rubyzaar is sweatshop-free and fabulous. Wear it with pride.

How Apropos ! Votes for women, 1911-1913 by Bertha Margaret Boye - Suffrage Movement

Born in Oakland, CA on May 5, 1883. Boye studied art at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute in San Francisco and was a resident there until after the PPIE of 1915. By 1919 she had settled in Ukiah, CA. She died on Sept. 2, 1930 in Calais, France where she had gone to further her art studies. Exh: Mark Hopkins Inst., April 1906; Guild of Arts & Crafts (SF), 1906; Sketch Club, 1908; Berkeley AA, 1908; San Francisco Art Association, 1918.

Artist J. Howard Miller produced this work-incentive poster for the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company. Though displayed only briefly in Westinghouse factories, the poster in later year has become one of the most famous icons of World War II.
As women were encouraged to take wartime jobs in defense industries, they became a celebrated symbol of female patriotism. But when the war ended, many industries forced women to relinquish their skilled jobs to returning veterans.

Their sister Mahsa Amini, only
22 years old, vibrant, innocent
will not see the leaves fall,

season. Mahsa died after
being arrested by the Islamic
Republic’s morality police.
At 22 her blood flows in the
hearts of those calling for
justice, her sweet face a
symbol of the oppression
of our Iranian sisters.
