30 Years of Tropic: Celebrating a Legacy of Sustainable Travel
🌟 As 2024 comes to an end, we find ourselves reflecting on an extraordinary milestone—our 30th anniversary. It has been a year of growth, innovation, and gratitude as we continue to create meaningful travel experiences across Ecuador, Peru, and now Chile. 🌎✈️
This year, we proudly introduced Chile 🇨🇱 as our newest destination, offering travelers Tropic’s signature style of immersive, sustainable experiences. To mark the occasion, we hosted our very first Chile FAM trip!
We also launched the Tropic Collection 🏡🌿—a carefully curated portfolio of locally owned properties that embody the values of sustainability and local entrepreneurship. From the Andes 🏔️ to the Galapagos 🐢, these are places where meaningful connections 🤝 and responsible tourism thrive.
In the Galapagos, we launched Galapagos Roots, a program centered on Floreana Island 🌸🌊, intertwining community and nature for an unforgettable experience.
Sustainability 💚 remained at the heart of all we do. Two Tropic Collection properties received “One to Watch” awards 🏆 at the LATA Responsible Travel Awards, recognizing their commitment to empowering local communities and sourcing locally. At Chilcabamba Mountain Lodge 🏔️, we launched the Florilegium Project, an initiative highlighting indigenous plants 🌿 and the importance of water conservation.
We are incredibly grateful for the amazing friends, clients, and partners who have supported us along the way. To celebrate this journey, we created a video 🎥 that captures the essence of these 30 years—a grassroots effort by our passionate team.
Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to many more years of responsible travel and shared adventures! 🌟

This 2024 season with @classiczambia has been nothing short of epic! We’ve had some amazing sightings from wild dogs, lions, and leopards at just about every corne; ellies in the water or on hind legs; and an abundance of other wildlife and birdlife in both the Kafue National Park and Lower Zambezi! Gretchen just got back from a FAM with Classic Zambia couple of weeks ago to experience these amazing sightings firsthand – and it did not disappoint!
Here’s a highlight reel of her time at Ntemwa Busanga and Musekese in the Kafue as well as at both Chula Island Camp and Kutali Camp in the Lower Zambezi. Enjoy!

It’s been a couple of weeks now since @remote.la in Puyehue and we are buzzing from this incredible event.
This community of passionate travel designers and exhibitors shared their love for Latin America tourism on morning meetings, hikes, cooking classes, ice cream making, cocktails, as well as during breakout jam sessions, late night bowling and while indulging in Chilean wine! The Remoters also took advantage of @hoteltermaspuyehue’s thermal pools to get some downtime in between activities and meetings.
It’s hard to put in words what makes this event special, so here’s the Kusini highlight reel of the 2024 Remote Immersion in Putehue Chile!
Aaron Gekoski (@aaron_gekoski) is an internationally-acclaimed environmental photojournalist and film producer, who has been documenting our complex relationship with animals for more than 15 years. His work has also featured in most of the top photographic competitions, and he was awarded the 2024 Environmental Photographer of the Year award by Prince Albert II of Monaco.
He recently returned to Hwange and spent some time with Mark Butcher and @imvelosafarilodgeszim documenting the drought and its effects on the wildlife. As always, his images are incredible and they captured the pure essence of what was unfolding. Thank you, Aaron, for these epic photographs of our Hwange elephants!
