In Japan, there are festivals in autumn.
This is to celebrate the harvest of food and give thanks to God.
Many festivals are being held this year for the first time in four years.

The gate called "西一番街" in the photo is from the "Fukuro Festival" held near Ikebukuro Station, which has the third largest number of passengers in Japan.
The other is the regular festival at the local Nagasaki Shrine.

Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel

Simply put, by temporarily storing water underground, it prevents rivers from overflowing due to typhoons and heavy rains.
The "Pressurization Water Tank" looks like an underground temple and is very popular.

It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes by train and on foot from Tokyo Station.

English is not available, so let's go out with a friend who can speak Japanese.

A goshuin is a stampe for worshipers, mainly at shrines and temples in Japan.

Basically, you will receive it in the goshuin-cho (goshuin book) .
You can’t get it in a general notebook.

Originally, it was called “Nokyo goshuin,” and it was a proof stamp that was received as a proof that the sutra had been copied and offered to the temple.

In recent years, it has become possible to receive a goshuin by visiting a shrine or temple, regardless of whether you have copied the sutras.
In addition, it can be obtained at shrines, and is often used as proof of visitation.

Depending on the shrine or temple, seasonal, cute, goshuin may be prepared.

On the other hand, Goshuin is said to be the alter ego of gods and principal images.
Please follow the etiquette and don’t be rude when awarding.

AKEMASH*TE OMEDETO
明けましておめでとう

It means "Happy New Year!!" in Japanese.

In Japan, we eat Osechi on New Year's Day.

Each dish has a meaning of praying for happiness for the year.

In the middle is a rabbit made out of kamaboko.
Kamaboko is fish cake , tasty snack that is basically boiled fish paste.

2023 is the year of the rabbit in Chinese zodiac

Some people even make them by hand.
Those who make everything are in the minority.

More and more people are buying them at department stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores.
I also bought it at a 100 yen Lawson and packed it in a jubako(box).

From the end of November to the beginning of December, Tokyo is in the season of autumn leaves.

Last week and this week, I visited the neighborhood to see autumn leaves.

It seems that the leaves turned red late this year, partly because of the warm weather.

When the autumn leaves fall, it suddenly becomes cold and winter begins.

I saw a documentary film about doctor Nakamura Tetsu .

Nakamura Tetsu arrived at a hospital in Peshawar, Afghanistan in 1984.
Nakamura Tetsu was in charge of a leprosy patient.

Nakamura Tetsu arrived at a hospital in Peshawar, Afghanistan in 1984. He was in charge of a leprosy patient.

Nakamura Tetsu began to feel the need for irrigation canals and began construction of irrigation canals in 2003.

He seemed to think that if Afghanistan had water and food, it would make it harder to get sick.

Afghanistan needs aid, not weapons and airstrikes.

In 2016, the irrigation canals and methods he worked on spread to the neighborhood, supporting the lives of 600,000 people.

In 2019, Nakamura Tetsu was shot with five friends and became a person who never returned.

Tetsu Nakamura, rest in peace,,,

The number of followers has exceeded 5,000. Thank you.

Recently, I'm crazy about hiking.
I'm going to Saitama prefecture, next to Tokyo.

In June, I visited Hiwadayama Kotohira Shrine while hiking.
It is a little-known spot where you can see the torii gate in the sky.

About 3 and a half hours at the shortest from Narita Airport

First of all, I participated in "Tokyo Skytree® Secret Tour — See Behind the Curtain!" Where you can see the feet of Tokyo Skytree, which you normally cannot enter.

In Tokyo (the capital of Japan), the peak of cherry blossom viewing is ending.

Sakura is an important flower for Japanese people.

It signals the end of the cold season(winter), the arrival of the warm season(spring)

Also, for many Japanese, April will be the new year for schools and companies.

I don't feel like going too far because of the corona.

Happy New Year!!
This is a traditional Japanese New Years dish called OsechiRyori .

It’s an assortmentof small dishes.
Each dish has meaning, and is part of celebrating the New Year and pray for good health and prosperity for the year.

When I was little, many people made it at home.

Recently, more and more people are buying ready-made dishes.

I also bought eight 100-yen New Year dishes and packed them in a box (called "ZyuBako") .

I did my best early in the new year( ̄▽+ ̄*)

Traditionally, Japanese people eat buckwheat soba on New Year's Eve.
It called "Toshi-Koshi-Soba"

There are two theories.
1.May you live thin and long like soba.
※I heard this from my mother.

2.Soba is easy to cut, so We hope we can get rid of bad ties.

Some people make buckwheat from buckwheat flour.

Many people buy soba, boil it to make soup, and eat it with toppings such as tenkasu, Naruto, and green onions.

Naruto is a boiled fish paste with some pattern.

The word "寿" is written on Naruto this time.

寿 means Congratulations! ,Long life! ,Be happy ,Good Luck…

In Japan, cluster amaryllis bloom in mid-September.
Red is common, white is rare, and yellow is rarely seen.
There is no blue that appears on the Devil's "Demon slayer"

The red spider lilies were photographed in the fourth year at Kinchakuda in Saitama Prefecture (next to Tokyo).
Kinchakuda is a famous spot for cluster amaryllis
Kinchakuda was closed to the public in 2020 and 2021 in order to avoid crowding of people, and the flowers were cut.

so I enjoy the autumn tradition near my house.

White cluster amaryllis and cat photographed at Gokokuji Temple.
The yellow one is the Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan (designed by Frank Lloyd Wright).

August 15th is the day when World War II (Asia–Pacific War,Greater East Asia War) ended for the Japanese.
It is the day when the "Imperial Rescript on Surrender(called "玉音放送, Gyokuon Hoso")" was declared by the emperor.

In the world, September 2nd may be the end of the war (VJ Day)…

Every year, at this time of year, Japanese look back on those days,
※I was born in 1974, so I have no direct experience.

This year, the "Memory Decompression Project", an efforts to turn black-and-white photographs during the war into color photographs using the latest technology, is drawing attention.

In Japan, the rainy season is over and it's summer time.
And the Olympic Games have begun.
* Opening ceremony is July 23, 2021
* If it was held in October, like 1964, it was a good season to do anything ...

I will share Japanese traditions in such a hot summer.

Kakigori/かき氷
Kakigori means shaved ice
This shaved ice is also made of matcha ice.
sweet bean paste and sticky rice balls are topped.

Hiyashi Chuka/冷やし中華
Chinese style cold noodles.
Hiyashi Chuka is a cold Japanese dish with
Chinese noodles and various toppings.

Popular toppings for it are egg crepe strips,
cucumber, ham, tomato and so on.

Furin/風鈴
Furin is a “wind chime,” made of glass, iron, crockery and so on.
It is hung by a window in the summer time.

July 7th is "Tanabata" in Japan.

We display bamboo grass.
We write each wish on a strip of paper and hang it on the bamboo grass.

The strips of paper used to write wishes are called "Tanzaku" .
It is said that a wish comes true by writing it on Tanzaku.

Here is a museum built near "Tokiwa-so", which is the origin of Japanese manga.
It is called Tokiwaso Manga Museum.

The authors of Astro Boy, Doraemon, and Bakabon sent their youth.
Therefore, their characters are drawn as coloring books on the Tanzaku.
The side on which the wish is written is omitted...

The Tokyo Olympic Torch Relay will be here on July 18th.
Is it really possible?

However, I don't feel like going out too much.

I watched the hydrangea about 30 minutes from my house.
