The Handstand Scorpion Pose, often known in yoga as the "Vrschikasana II," is a blend of strength, balance, and flexibility. This advanced posture challenges both the physical body and the mind.

In this pose, one begins in a handstand and then consciously arches the back, allowing the feet to move towards the head, mimicking the tail of a scorpion.

Key Benefits:

Strengthens the shoulders, arms, and core.

Enhances balance and awareness.

Opens up the chest and shoulders.

Increases back flexibility.

Tips for practising

Sthir sukham asanam , the basic definition of an asan , applies to all postures , so as long as one takes the posture to the extent where one feels comfortable , is stable , and the breath is flowing with ease

Warm up adequately, especially the spine and shoulders.

Engage your core to maintain stability.

Begin with a wall for support if new to the pose.

Always listen to the body and take it to the extent it is comfortable

Remember, like all advanced poses, the Handstand Scorpion Pose requires patience and consistent practice. It's not just about the final pose but the journey of getting there. Stay safe and enjoy the process!

or is a deep back bend involving the curvature of spine and arm strength. I have observed that a deeper bhujangasan really helps to get into this posture. One needs to work on the arm strength too to help the torso lift up.This posture opens up the chest , this creating more space for lungs to expand in inhalation. It also strengthens the shoulder muscles and stretches the hip flexors as well. It helps you in feeling a surge of energy as you get into the posture and hold it . Here is a complicated yet playful way of getting into it and coming out of it .Caution : Try this to transition only under supervision of a yoga teacher

is one of the deep backbends which not only tests the flexibility of the spine , but also the arm strength. it works on the entire lengh of the spine , cervical , thoracic and lumbar . it's recommended to first go deep into bhujangasan, that would help to deepen the curvature of the spine for this posture too. Here are three different ways of getting into the posture , the first one easy and the last two to be done only after some practice. The beginner way would be the start with a variation of setubandhasan with palms by the side of the shoulders , fingers pointing towards the feet. First the waist is raised , then a little push to lift the neck up and place the crown of the head on to the floor and then by pushing the palms further the entire body can be raised.
