After the Concours, Hwy 49 took us south, to coyotes and more cars, at Coulterville's 33rd (!) Annual Coyote Fest. From hot rides to howling contests, and kettle corn to shave ice, there's something for everyone at this fun, authentic, small-town Gold Country gathering! It's really all about your howl, though!!

The first leg of our road trip brings us here, to this super-comfy cottage at Greenhorn Creek, Angels Camp. After a fabulous and filling dinner at the adjacent Camp's Lounge and Bar, we are ready for a good night's rest! Back in the morning...

We launched our Hwy 49 adventure for this weekend after an incredible lunch at Elk Grove's newest creative farm-to-fork spot, The Waffle Experience. Just take a gander at these plates... and yes, there's a waffle under all that yum on each one! We also visited Elk Grove's vaunted rain garden and its burgeoning community garden, as one of our journalists often covers gardens. Then we hit the road toward Angel's Camp... stay tuned for our next stop!

In a few short hours, this scene will be transformed, filled with classic and collector cars and hotrods. It's time for the Mariposa Yosemite Custom Car Show! Tonight you can take in the cruise through town; tomorrow the main event takes place at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds... and it's all free for attendees!

The Coyotefest in picturesque Coulterville (on Hwy 49 at the intersection with 132) was a howling good time! From the Sheriff's Posse to rodeo queen contestants and stilt walkers to classic cars, there was fall fun for everyone. (coyotetailthatis)

Hosted at the beautiful Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys (just seven miles off Hwy 49), the 21st annual Ironstone Concours d'Elegance was a smashing success. Benefiting youth in agriculture (FFA and 4-H), the charitable event draws sizeable crowds along with a stunning array of specialty and collector vehicles. If you didn't make it this time, now's the time to mark your calendar for the third Saturday in September, 2018! In the meantime, some highlights:
