Do you know the origin of Love Locks?

The tradition of love locks dates back centuries, tracing its origins to various romantic tales and legends. One of the most famous stories hails from a bridge in Serbia, where a local schoolmistress and officer fell deeply in love during World War I. To symbolize their eternal love, they attached a padlock to the bridge where they often met, throwing the key into the river below, vowing to stay together forever. This heartfelt act sparked a tradition that spread worldwide, where couples affix locks to bridges, fences, and landmarks, symbolizing their unbreakable bond and everlasting love. Today, love locks serve as enduring testaments to the power of love and commitment across cultures and continents.

Here are a couple of shots of them on our last trip, and one where we were the first to attach our lock on the new lovelock sculpture in town. Our red lock is just above my hubby's head.
