Africa's highest mountain range, the 5,100metre rwenzori or mountains of the moon is the snowy source of the Nile referred to by early geographers, 17centuries before European explorers marked it on their maps. The high rwenzori is amontane wonderland, the trails lled with fantastically coloured mosses and rare Afro-Alpine plant that include giants forms of lobelies, heathers and groundsels. Expedition use achain of basic huts and campsites ascend the mountain from kilembe and nyakalengija.
