We are six days into summer, are you getting ready for your next trip?

Researching a destination before a trip can benefit you many ways. For starters, you can save yourself headaches by having a basic understanding of your destination - from the best neighborhoods to stay in to the easiest way to get around. Research will help you organize your trip well ahead of time. Getting to know your destination in advance can help maximize your time there and literally point you in the right direction (literally), and help you discover new gems along the way.

Researching in advance will also give you a heads up and understanding of the social and political situation which will then help you navigate cultural sensitivities and allow for more meaningful connections with locals and others in the community.

Somewhere between three and forty something we lost our joy. And now we are all trying to find it again. Our grown-up circumstances, mortgages,taxes, jobs and social media comparison have sucked the wind right out of our sails. And here we are, convinced that getting down to our college weight and maintaining a spotless home sounds like a pretty good way to be happy again. The truth is, if we take care of ourselves the same way we're nurturing everyone else, we'll find all sorts of joy and be better for everyone we love.

What if I told you that most of these women were strangers when the individually decided to take to take a leap of faith and join us in Italy, Ghana, Paris and Egypt. What continues to amaze us are the friendships that formed and the barriers that are breached through experiences like these. Only good things happen when you pour the foundation for intentional community building.

For the past 41 days I’ve been on a journey to believing bigger. What I know for sure is gratitude and believing go hand in hand. Gratitude unlocks the fullness of your life.

Here’s a few thing I believe:
1. The little things are the big things (the sounds of birds during your morning walk, the rising of the sun, the smell of a pound cake, the touch of your grandmothers hand in your hand or a simple smile from your 5 year old niece).

2. Things can change and they will. After loosing my parents, I often look at those I love and remind myself they won’t always be here and I won’t either. It’s easy to focus on the good things and appreciate what we have.

3. Everyone has something to teach or offer me. Every broken heart, broken promise, broken hope, has helped me to become a stronger, wiser and compassionate person.

4. Everyone’s blessing is different and that’s ok. We’re all different people; we all have different talents, interests, priorities, and values; and we’re all on our own path. What’s meaningful to me might not be meaningful to you. What’s valuable to me might not be valuable to you.

5. Life itself is a gift. We live in a world full of teachers; both people and experiences that enable us to learn, grow, and continually evolve into the people we want to be.

Our present is more precious even if things aren’t perfect. At least, that’s what I believe, and because of this, I’m grateful.
