2 weeks ago we had to put our sweet rescue dog Rowdy to sleep due to a very aggressive form of oral cancer. We knew we wanted to rescue another shelter dog in honor Rowdy. Welcome to the family, Arlo Bluey. We love you so much already! 🐶

This is really late- but I never reviewed last Friday!

We met for breakfast at Cabana’s (after a slow start to the morning by my crew), and after breakfast (today they had churro Mickey waffles!), we headed off the ship to check out the straw market in Nassau. The littles each bought a shark-tooth necklace, we got a few more trinkets, and then we headed back onto the ship. Spent the afternoon on the waterslides and in the sun, and then later on, the four of us went to the adults-only pool for a bit while the kids hung out.

Our last dinner was back at Lumiere’s, and I got my most favorite Disney Cruise Line app, the Brie, which is a wonderful mix of sweet and savory, along with a bit of crunch. Yum! We enjoyed one final show, Believe, and then the kids went to the kids club for one final time while we went to our favorite bar Keys for some cocktails. We didn’t want the night to end and kept taking photos around the ship, but finally, it was time to say goodnight.

Camden and I ended the night grabbing drinks for our water bottles, and called it a day- 6:30 came early Saturday morning! We had a final breakfast with our friends and then went our separate ways.

It was a magical trip! See ya real soon!

Doing some cleaning and I just found a few mementos from Disneyland Paris. My first trip here was back when it was Euro Disney (and then subsequent visits when it was Disneyland Paris) and I’ve stayed at 3 of the onsite resorts (Newport Bay Club and Hotels Cheyenne, and Santa Fe). LOVE DLP!

Thursday-

I didn’t take a ton of photos today. We had a relaxing ‘off’ day. My family slept in, way past breakfast. Our friends then texted us that they were making mimosas (you are allowed to bring champagne/ wine on board), so we found them in the atrium and had a few mimosas, followed by coffee, and lunch.

We then went to the 2:30pm showing of Inside Out 2- it was SO cute!! Cassie and I happened to be matching today with our shirts from the Princess Half Marathon last year, so we had to document that!

After the movie, we went out to the pool deck for an hour or so before going back to the room to get ready for dinner. Tonight’s dinner was at Rapunzel’s Royal Table, and we were treated to a fun dinner show! After dinner, we dropped the kids off at the club and went to the Pub for some adult beverages. The boys and I went back to the room and grabbed a few rubber ducks we had brought to hide, and roamed around the ship around midnight hiding a few (this is a thing on a lot of cruise ships).

Good night!

Wednesday-

We went for breakfast around 9, and then excitedly got off the ship to head to the brand-new Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point in the Bahamas. It. Is. GORGEOUS! Soft pink sand and turquoise water.

We spent hours at the beach, and then grabbed lunch before they closed at 2pm (lunch on the island is included). The kids then played at the fun water playground for an hour or two, one more round of beach fun, and then I ran to the gift shop to grab a few souvenirs. I got a drink at one of the bars, and then we packed up and headed back to the ship around 4. I grabbed an espresso martini and watched the ship pull away, then went back to help the kids get ready for dinner.

Tonight was Pirate night, so we donned our pirate gear and went to a fun dinner at Animator’s Palate. We met Jack Sparrow after dinner, and then the kids went to the club while we went to the pub for a bit. Met a bartender we recognized from our last trip on the Disney Magic, Andreae, and then we wrapped up the evening with fireworks at sea. 🎆

Tuesday

Today was Castaway Cay day. I was up early to get ready for our 5k on the island. I heard a lot of noises, and felt the anchor try to go down and come back up, and knew we weren’t going to be making our port. Sure enough, at 8am the Captain came on and said that the seas were too rough to safely dock, and we would be skipping the island today. He promised to work hard to find sun for us- and he delivered! We headed southeast- away from the path of the hurricane- and were treated to a gorgeous, sunny day!

I grabbed a coffee at the Cove Cafe (check out the coffee art!) and then we spent the entire day out on deck at the pool, trying out the waterslides (Dakota did the Drop Slide for the first time and said it was ok), watching movies on the big screen by the pool, and eating ice cream. It was the perfect sea day!

Tonight was Halloween! We enjoyed a Halloween-themed dinner at Animator’s Palate, and then trick-or-treating at Cabana’s. The kids got SO MUCH candy! We sugared them up then sent them to the kids clubs for our 9:30pm Bourbon Tasting seminar, which was spectacular! We tried 4 different bourbons, as well as ‘The Perfect Old Fashioned’ made with Blanton’s. We had a BLAST!

After our seminar, we enjoyed a few more moments of adult time grabbing some pizza by the pool, then went to get the kids. Had a late-night photo shoot in an empty atrium, and called it a day around midnight!

Monday- It’s embarkation day!

Slept in a bit, grabbed coffee and a small breakfast for the kids, and packed up and headed out. Took a shuttle to the port, which is a very short drive away.

Once we boarded the gorgeous Disney Magic, we went up to Cabana’s for lunch. Enjoyed a large spread presented on a huge buffet, and then went outside to the soft-serve machine for the first of probably 50+ ice cream cones between the 4 kids.

Enjoyed a bottle of champagne, went up to the pool deck and relaxed, and then went to an open house for the kids clubs so the kids could familiarize themselves. Watched sail-away, then took our friends to a Disney Vacation Club Celebration with us, where we were treated to some delightful cocktails, a fun game show that my son won, and hugs from Captain Minnie!

Dinner at Lumiere’s was next- check out the attention to detail with the rose on the ceiling! Watched a show in the Atrium by the Pumpkin Tree, checked out the new merch, enjoyed a Broadway-style show (Twice Charmed), and ended the night with more ice cream cones. Amazing day!

Sunday:

We woke up in our villa to the pouring rain- the beginning of Milton? Our plans for a pool day were thwarted- but we are at The Most Magical Place on Earth, so who cares?

We enjoyed coffee, then mimosas while the kids ran around the spacious villa and built forts in the media room (the grand villas here actually have four rooms with beds, there is a media room with a pullout sofa and large TV). At 11am, we went down to the lobby and were greeted with Pluto and Donald Duck coloring in the lobby! Spent about 20 minutes with them, and then we caught the monorail over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort for lunch at the Contempo Cafe. Did some shopping, went to the conference center here and let the kids run around, and then we caught the monorail over to Disney’s Polynesian Resort for some more shopping, and Mai Tai’s.

Finally, it was time to head back to our resort, grab our luggage from Bell Services, and catch an Uber to the Brightline high-speed train station. While we waited, we were treated to some art (see photos)!

We grabbed some snacks at the train station, and then caught the roughly 3-hour train ride to Fort Lauderdale. We all enjoyed the ride!

We Door-Dashed McDonald’s to the resort (the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina), ate in the lobby, and then called it a night around midnight. Tomorrow is cruise day!!

We are home from an INCREDIBLE vacation with friends, and I’d like to share our fun times with you! This week we will all be going on a virtual vacation together!

Late last Friday night, we left Indianapolis International Airport and headed to Orlando International Airport- since we arrived after midnight, we opted to stay right in the airport, at the Hyatt Regency at MCO. The next morning, my oldest son and I ventured down into the airport for some Starbucks. We then got an Uber over to Walt Disney World, where we were staying one night with friends at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in a 3-bedroom grand villa. We enjoyed a poolside lunch and cocktails while we waited for our room to open up. Once we received the text, we made our way up to this STUNNING villa. We watched college football all afternoon, ordered pizza for dinner, and then went shopping at Basin White at the resort.

We enjoyed ‘Happily Ever After’ (fireworks show) over at the Magic Kingdom from our resort, visited Gasparilla Grill, the quick service location here for some dessert, and then went back to our villa (stopping for a quick game of ping pong) where we stayed up til about midnight watching more football (there were a TON of upsets last week!) and catching up with friends who live out-of-state.

Stay tuned for Sunday’s adventures at Walt Disney World and taking the Brightline high-speed train to Fort Lauderdale to catch our cruise ship, the stunning Disney Magic!
