Moments like this photo remind me that I'm in love with discomfort.

Rocky ridges, steep exposure, and crevasses with no protection. I feel alive in this part of life. A place with no safety net. A place where you know you've got nothing but your own steady steps.

As the late great Johnny Cash once said, "I walk the line". Honestly, I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Here we go once again. Bring it life. I'll best you again. Challenge accepted.

Survived a rocky night on North Gardner Mountain after my inflatable pad gave out. Sleeping on hard rocks was tough, but the sight of the sunrise was the most welcome thing I've ever seen. 🌄

This is one of my favorite shots from last summer. Climbing the Boulder Glacier on Mount Baker at around 8000 ft I looked over and saw this epic moment. I cannot wait for those alpine sunrises again - Just a few More Weeks.

Beautiful sunset at the 6-mile Slough Preserve in Fort Meyers Florida yesterday. Tried to see an Alligator and couldn't find one. Lots of birds and even one cotton mouth snake hiding in the brush.

Took me way too long to get this one made. The video is from 2021. That final few hundred feet up Argoanut is still one of the hardest scrambles I've done. The exposure in spots made me freeze a few times. Worth every bit of effort though

Excellent trek up Mailbox peak earlier this week. We didn't want to risk me falling due to a still-healing shoulder surgery, so we chose to use the New Trail both up and down. I've only ever used it going down before. Going up it feels like it takes an eternity.

The doctor approved my getting some fresh air last weekend despite being one-armed from collarbone surgery. The only condition was "don't fall". 😄

Broke trail in Snowshoes without poles for the day to access lake Valhalla from the Smith Brook side. Almost had the place to myself. A beautiful cross country route if you have some navigation and avalanches skills

Sauk Mountain

After attempting to drive to Cascade pass and ending up in thicker and thicker smoke, Elena and I headed for Sauk mountain for the day instead.

There was a fair amount of fall colors to distract from the fact that the view was completely obscured by smoke.

Happy we at least managed to find some kind of blue sky for the day.

Quick hike up to lake ingalls on 9/25. Fall colors were starting and a few larches had gold tips.

For the payoff, Lake Ingalls is a worthy day out. At around 9 miles you will have a tough time finding a better view
