A return visit to to sample more culinary delights. Featured in last Fall, we can’t say enough about the consistency, quality and creativity of their food and drink offerings. The fried chicken with hot maple honey, mashed potatoes and grilled broccolini was huge and insanely good. As was the cod with hazelnut romesco and charred cauliflower. Don’t skip the chorizo and shrimp mac and cheese, hamachi or griddle vegetable cakes apps—or anything for that matter. It’s worth several trips to try them all. GREAT service, exceptional cocktails, and special Wednesday $2 oysters and half price wine list.

We visited one of our favorite restaurants in .maine on a weekend road trip. Not only is their food absolutely delicious, fun and creative, but they are also supporting the Ukrainian people by donating all proceeds from their (formerly known as Vladimir) Poutine dish to the Voices of Children ( ) organization who are helping Ukrainian families affected by the war 👏👏👏🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

There is so much incredible chocolate made by local companies and artisans, but today we celebrate .ragusa a B&B and chocolatier in Ragusa (Sicily), Italy. We tried their hazelnut bar with their hazelnut spread. Utterly decadent flavors, yet elegant and delicate textures and lingering finish. Sweet but not too sweet. According to Pat O’Brien of in Freeport, they are the first to import and carry these wonderful products. Check out their site (Chocohouse.it) if you’re a chocolate lover traveling to Sicily or find their products at Fiore shops in Freeport, Bar Harbor, Rockland, Lewiston, Ellsworth, and Brewer, Maine.

What a fun “find” in downtown Freeport today. has so many wonderful olive oils, balsamic vinegars, unique condiments and hard to find chocolate from Italy. Their passion and personal attention is outmatched only by their deep knowledge of the products they carry at their several locations in Maine.

Tonight we made a delicious salmon dish (sourced from ) using their Wild Maine Blueberry balsamic, over roasted pepper couscous and baked Caprese tomatoes (small organic tomatoes stuffed with fresh basil-wrapped mozzarella and drizzled with olive oil and another drop of that sumptuous balsamic).

Ventured out in 20 degrees and wind on Block Island this weekend to get these beauties. Made clams three ways—traditional pasta with clam sauce, a clams in beer and dry sausage sauce appetizer, and steamed the big boys to make our house chowder later this week.

A beautiful combination. Evangeline ashed soft-ripened cheese out of Durham, ME and gorgeous single vibrate 2017 Cabernet Franc from Colluvial Wines out of Santa Maria Valley, CA. The delicate but decadent creamy cheese and the black fruit and dark chocolate flavors of the wine were a match made in heaven.

If you love world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay it’s worth hunting down bottles of from California’s prime Santa Rita wine region. I’ll let and reviews do the talking, but these are some of the best-made wines we have ever tasted—with just the right balance of fruit, acid and tannins to enjoy now or lay down, sip on their own or enjoy with great meals. Their wine club may be the only way to get them for a while due to being a high quality, small production winery—unless you’d like to visit , and in NYC.
