Just something to look out for if buying a helmet for your child for cycling, we have recently had a lot of helmets where the adjustments are not staying in place. It appears to be the material the straps are made of which is like a nylon and very slippy. To date they have all been a black strap with two rows of white imitation stitching on the edges. Here is a picture of the straps.

I would recommend the helmets with the cloth straps.

Also look for the adjustment on the back of the helmet as this gives it a snug fit on the child's/adults head.
Any questions feel free to contact us.

This is very important at this time of year.

The weather is starting to get colder now for cycling so make sure you are warm when cycling, keeping your feet and hands warm, but don't put a big woolly hat under your helmet.

20/07/2016

Always check your bike before you go cycling, we regularly see bikes with one brake, loose handlebars, and sometimes a nut missing on the wheel.

14/06/2016

As its National Bike Week and lots of people are out on their bikes, be sure to wear a helmet and a high vis vest. The helmet will protect your head and the vest will make you more visible on the road. Safe cycling.

A Cyclist's Plight
Deep fried asphalt crawls beneath my wheels as I pedal on, pursued by buzzing flies
and salty drops of sunscreen sweat sting my squinting eyes.

Caffeine coursing through my corporal chassis fuels my weary legs
and mutes the screaming mind that wants the same respite for which my human vessel begs.

Be the road before me treacherous, the hills before me steep,
God heals my aching body every night with fitful sleep.

E mail from school principal where we taught level 2 cycling,

"Thank you so much for a wonderful day of cycling. Despite the weather, we had a fantastic day!

It was great to get out around the local roads and I think it has broken down a lot of barriers about the worry of the local roads for parents. Even for me, I am able to identify good local routes that we can go out on!"

We are meeting more of these helmets every day a waste of money in my opinion as the pieces fall off.

Always wear a high Vis vest when out walking and cycling makes you more visible on the road. If buying a bike might be a good idea to get a high vis vest as well especially for children.

07/10/2015

If you are buying a bike for a child this year, you should check the amount of adjustment you have on the seat/saddle as some of these are very short especially on bikes with a suspension. If you get the shop to take the seat out you will see where the safety mark is and that is the amount of adjustment you have.
The safety mark on the stem should never be showing.
