Jenn, Aaron, Nicole & Tito just returned from another fun cruise aboard RCCL's Explorer of the Seas. Here is what they had to say:

Joy,

We had such a great time on the Explorer of the Seas. It was a smaller ship than our last, but the service was even better. The staff were attentive, kind, fun and accommodating. The ports (Costa Rica, Panama, Cartagena, Aruba, and Coco Cay) did not disappoint! 11 nights of parents misbehaving 🤣. It was great to get away with friends. I highly recommend the adult only Hidaway Bay section of Coco Cay! The infinity pool, terrific food and service on the beach was the perfect end to our vacation.
Thank you for another fun vacation!
Jenn

Tj, Michelle, Casey & Lindy just returned from Riviera Maya. They stayed at the Royalton Riviera Cancun in the Luxury Suite Ocean View. Here is there review:

Hideaway was good 8/10

Everything was great, my only complaint was they didn’t really mark off the Diamond Club pool. With that being said you needed to set an alarm to be up reserving seats at the pool by 6am by 7am there were not seats left. Other than that the service and amenities were great! It was a huge hotel the Hideaway and Royalton are virtually the same resort.

Take it from one of my RCCL cruise experts, My client Dan who just returned from a 7nt sailing on the Jewel of the Seas (RCCL) which does a 7nt from Galveston. He stayed in the Grand Suite. Here are his comments:
This was the third time I have sailed on Jewel of the Seas, and she is as fine of a ship as ever. If you prefer a cruise from the traditional days, I highly recommend Jewel of the Seas. I sailed this ship when she was brand new, and now that she is 20 years old. She is still beautiful and in fine shape. I read other reviews of torn carpet and rust, and i did not see any of that. Yes, there is a spot or two of rust here and there, but guess what, its a steel ship the sails in salt water, there will always be spots of rust. My review is based on today's cruising industry, not the way it used to be 20 years ago. I read many reviews that complain about the amount of and type of food you get, the amount of amenities you get, and the upselling to get you to spend more money. Get used to it, that is the way all of the lines are now. The old traditional ways are never coming back, but I found Jewel is still pretty close to it.

The Ship: The ship itself is perfect for a cruiser like me. If you have kids or very active yourself, sail on something else, because you will be disappointed. For me, a tradition cruiser, I go on vacation to rest, relax, and let others take care of me for a change. That is what this ship was designed for. She is still perfect. Not too big, but not too small. The design and decor are still classic that give Jewel a feeling of comfort and relaxation. The ship was always clean and spotless everywhere, and honestly, unless you knew, you would never guess that the ship is now 20 years old.

Service: Every crew member and officer were excellent, from the bar server who made sure i always had a full drink by the pool, to my cabin steward who greeted me twice a day to make sure I was happy and if I needed anything special, and my servers in the dining room, excellence like the old days, old days meaning before the mega ships.

My clients, David & Susan just returned from the Riu Palace Pacifico in Puerto Vallarta. Here is there review:

This was our second visit to RIU Palace Pacifico, and it did not disappoint! The resort is beautiful and well-maintained since they renovated it two years ago, and they work hard to keep it that way. The staff and location make this resort a favorite of ours in Mexico. They keep their employees happy, so it was great to see familiar and smiling faces again. Cheers to Luigi, our favorite bartender! Our room was beautiful with a partial ocean view, and our balcony was nice to sit on in the evening to see the Moon and Venus in the night sky. The bathrooms/showers are nicely appointed, and each suite has a self-serv minibar and refrigerator stocked daily with beer, soda, mixers, and water.

There are six a la carte restaurants on-site (plus an additional one for elite guests). We ate at the buffet, the steak house, the “fusion gourmet” restaurant, the Italian restaurant, and the sports bar (great ribs and shrimp tacos, open 24/7). All were excellent, but the steakhouse has the best location, and the surf & turf were great! Lunch by the pool/beach is also good at the two snack bars—burgers, tacos, etc. The evening shows are great (I loved the ABBA show), and there is always live music (piano) in the main lobby during happy hour and after dinner, including a specialty drink cart that changes nightly.

This is an adult-only resort —18 years old and up, so there aren’t many wild partiers. People are having fun, but it’s not over the top. However, you can visit RIU Jalisco and RIU Vallarta if you want more nightlife. They offer free shuttles every Friday night to RIU Jalisco for their Neon or White dance party, so you can join a bigger group of revelers and dance the night away.

The resort is within walking distance from Bucerias (check out "Friends of Bucerias" page), and there is a nice brick walkway—a 30- to 40-minute walk. It's a fun village to visit for shopping and has great restaurants if you want to get off the resort property to a place nearby. We walked there one morning, then took a taxi back for $10. The Palace is also a 10-minute taxi ride to the marina at Paradise Village, where we took a whale watching tour. Don’t miss this if you're there before the end of March! The Malecon boardwalk and the Romantica Zone in Puerto Vallarta are also fun to visit, and about a 40-minute taxi ride ($30 one way).

We will return to see our friends at RIU Palace Pacifico soon and are thankful for their gracious hospitality!

Here is the review of some friends of mine that just returned from the gorgeous Secrets Cap Cana....
Secrets - did not disappoint! It was extra special this year. We thought going into it that we were bummed that Zilara was booked for our dates. But, no. After 2 years at Zilara we will go back to Secrets next year. Our room was primo. In building 4 - Preferred Club Ocean Front One Bedroom Master Suit. Second floor is the best because the first floor has swim-outs, which are beautiful - just not for us. Third floor would be nice, but when it rains there is no cover and everything gets wet. Room 4203 is a prime spot!

The service was exceptional. All the staff was outstanding. Our Butler exceeded expectations and delivered several special requests during our stay. Preferred Club experience is worth it.

The beach experience is better at Secrets than Zilara. Secrets has tons of little grass huts which provide abundant shade. Zilara only has tiny beach umbrellas that you have to cram under for shade.

The dinner experience is better at Secrets. Every restaurant accommodates outdoor seating. Even at the French and Italian restaurants where the dress code is long pants for men, there was outside dining so men could wear shorts. A huge bonus. At Zilara most of the restaurants are inside and require pants with no option of outdoor seating. You do have access to Ziva, but then there are screaming kids at 8:00pm in the restaurants.

The pools and lounge chairs at Secrets are beautiful.

The staff is proud that Secrets is a AAA 5-Diamond resort. The only one on the island other than the Tortuga Bay - a boutique $$$$$ resort. Zilara is a 4-Diamond.

Zilara and Secrets are both lovely and we'd recommend either. It just depends on the experience and vibe that you're looking for.

The VIP entry and exit - while pricey - is worth it to us. PUJ customs can be a s**t show. Leaving PUJ with the VIP treatment is very nice.

The three transfers that you set up were excellent. Amstar Company was great - staff, drivers, vans, timing. All just great.

Anyway.... Just wanted to say thank you and give some feedback. Washing clothes and putting it all back in the suitcase for Turks and Caicos! Really excited about the trip. Thinking it will be out of this world!

Rick & Susan recently returned from their Princess cruise, they sailed on the Sun Princess 8nt Western Caribbean. They stayed in the Vista Suite. Here are their comments:
Joy,

Well we’re back from our cruise. We had a great time. The Ship was magnificent. It was not at all like the Emerald Princess we had for the canal last year. This was new and modernized in every way. Our room was a split sweet with a large double balcony. We had both a stand a lone shower and a tub. The service was great and the food wonderful. Thank you for making it all happen for us. The disembarkation was just so simple and easy. We got into port at 5:30 Saturday morning and was at the airport by 7:00AM. The luggage was completely taken care of for us. We met our luggage at 4:30 PM in the Greensboro air port. We were met at the FLL airport by princess when we arrived and they took us to our Hotel and the next morning from the Hotel to the ship. The only damper on the trip was the Renaissance Hotel. It was dark and very cold. The temperature throughout the night in the rooms was around 60 degrees and their response was an extra blanket. I definitely would not recommend them. But the ship more than made up for it.

The Vis Group just returned from Costa Rica. They stayed at the Riu Palace Costa Rica in Guanacaste in the Junior Suite Ocean View rooms. The group really had to find their strength & perseverance to overcome flight delays/cancellations due to the storm departing from the U.S. - but they finally got there! Here is their review:

Joy,

The trip to the Riu Palace Costa Rica was super fun.

Highlights:
Delicious Food! The a la carte restaurants were very good, especially the steakhouse and japanese. The grilled poolside food each day from 12-2pm was awesome - the chicken was amazing and the ice cream cart and signature drink was fun. The buffet was good everyday for breakfast.
Pools:
Beautiful, clean and fun.
Bars:
Very well stocked and so many workers.
Entertainment:
Awesome nightly entertainment
Staff: 5 stars!

Negatives:
Outdated Rooms:
Lots of white paint on top of white paint. Huge bathtub near the bathroom in the middle of the floor that most of us used to store our empty suitcases. No separation between the bathroom and the room so if someone got up before the other, there was no way to get ready without turning lights on, etc. Luckily we don't spend much time in the room so this didn't bother us!

Will you be sending each of us the Apple Vacation form that we need to fill out for reimbursement for our hotel room and dinner?

Thank you again!
Maureen

My son and his new wife Katie just returned from their honeymoon Paradise at Sandals St Lucia La Toc. Here are their comments:
Our honeymoon at Sandals Regency La Toc was absolutely magical! The weather was so fantastic all week and it was so relaxing! The days we sat by the pool, we had amazing service and fantastic people helping us. The days on our excursions were so fun and fulfilling.
The food at the resort was absolutely phenomenal and the staff was so helpful and quick with all their help.
If anyone has the chance, I highly recommend doing a candlelit dinner by the beach the resort hosts. The food tasted so good and the service was impeccable.
Highly recommend Sandals Regency La Toc!

Michelle & Tj just returned from Dreams Natura in Riviera Maya. Here are there comments:
Good morning Joy,

I wanted to share my thoughts on this resort. The weather was great and the service was really good as well. I liked our room and the resort itself was smaller. This allowed for easy navigation and everything was relatively close together. I actually enjoyed that. The pools were great and they seemed to have some nice areas for people with small children.

The food was good, but not great. We felt it was similar to a Riu in this way.
The resort pretty consistently smelled of sulfur, which is not pleasant. The ocean in front of the resort apparently has something emptying into it on both sides, which leaves the water a brown color and we did not go in the ocean at all due to this. It was strange as outside the borders the resort set up in the water, it was very clear and beautiful.

Small things that I found strange were after we would have housekeeping come by earlier in the day, they would knock on our door in the evening to ask if we needed more towels. This happened every evening.
We also had an employee come in our room one night to make us turn on our porch light on the balcony.
I just found these things odd.

Overall we had a great vacation and enjoyed ourselves immensely. I would not choose to return to this resort due to the quality of the ocean in front of the resort and the sulfur smell. We are pool people, so it didn’t have much of an effect on us, but I do still like to walk on the beach and I avoided it due to this.

Thank you for your help planning this vacation! I am sure we will be looking to book another one soon!

Please reach out with any questions.

Michelle

***ODT Note: The ocean discoloration & Sulphur smell comes from the nearby Mangroves...essential & beautiful but heavy rains can make for the runoff after storms***

Anquil and Toddie just returned from Puerto Vallarta. They stayed in the beautifully refurbished Riu Palace Pacifico in a Junior Suite Partial Ocean View. Here are their comments:

Hello Joy!

The Riu Palace Pacifico was beautiful! The remodel was immaculate, but the touches of the original structure made it all the more grand.

The food was delicious and fresh. We were able to eat at most of the restaurants: Steakhouse, Guacamole, La Peninsula (Italian) and the buffet was my favorite.

The staff and service were welcoming and refreshing, everyone so eager to assist.

The grounds were well kept and beautiful, in line with the remodel. There were many new things but also some of the remnants from the original.

All in all it was a great trip, even though our flight was delayed in Houston Friday causing us to have to stay overnight in Chicago and return home on Saturday.

Thank you for putting this all together. Great as usual!

The Vis Realty Group just returned from Cozumel. They stayed at the Iberostar! Here are their comments:

We all loved the Iberostar Cozumel. The resort, bungalows, buffet, smokehouse a la carte, and pool/beach were delightful. We ate one night at Alberto's next door and enjoyed the live band. The only negative was the theatre was being renovated so the usual Star Friend shows were non-existent.

I think we are already talking about going back to Cozumel next year ... dare I say the same resort unless you have another recommendation.

Jordan & Timothy just returned from an awesome honeymoon @ Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana. They stayed in the 2-story Rooftop With Private Terrace Pool. Here are their comments:

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana, and it was a truly rejuvenating experience. The staff's friendliness and personal touch, including remembering names, added a special touch to the stay. The meticulous cleanliness, both at the pool and the well-maintained beaches, created a serene environment. Securing a pool chair was never a rush, allowing for a truly relaxing escape. Excellence El Carmen exceeded expectations, offering a perfect blend of comfort and tranquility. Highly recommended for those seeking a memorable and peaceful getaway. I would recommend getting the two story beach front ocean view suite. The plunge pool on the roof was very relaxing after spending all day in the sun. I would definitely go back to Excellence or go to another Excellence somewhere else.

Wow, what a wonderful review from Jennifer, Aaron & the three kids. They just returned from RCCL's Symphony of the Seas (a fan favorite). Thank you Jennifer for your kind words & support! Joy

Once again I cannot tell you how much you are appreciated! Whenever we book a vacation with you it always goes smoothly and is fantastic! The cruise was fantastic! The kids loved all of the food and everything there is to do on the Symphony. Aruba was sunny and hot and had the best beach! A picture perfect paradise! Curaçao welcomed us with more sun and sand, and a few tropical drinks😉. Some weather hit Labadee and we were unable to visit, but Royal Caribbean refunded our excursion and made a stop in the Bahamas instead. It was such a welcome surprise! We even caught a glimpse of a sea turtle off the side of the ship! It was another amazing vacation that our family treasures! Thank you again so much, and we will be in touch to schedule our NEXT vacation with you soon!!
