My clients, David & Susan just returned from the Riu Palace Pacifico in Puerto Vallarta. Here is there review:
This was our second visit to RIU Palace Pacifico, and it did not disappoint! The resort is beautiful and well-maintained since they renovated it two years ago, and they work hard to keep it that way. The staff and location make this resort a favorite of ours in Mexico. They keep their employees happy, so it was great to see familiar and smiling faces again. Cheers to Luigi, our favorite bartender! Our room was beautiful with a partial ocean view, and our balcony was nice to sit on in the evening to see the Moon and Venus in the night sky. The bathrooms/showers are nicely appointed, and each suite has a self-serv minibar and refrigerator stocked daily with beer, soda, mixers, and water.
There are six a la carte restaurants on-site (plus an additional one for elite guests). We ate at the buffet, the steak house, the âfusion gourmetâ restaurant, the Italian restaurant, and the sports bar (great ribs and shrimp tacos, open 24/7). All were excellent, but the steakhouse has the best location, and the surf & turf were great! Lunch by the pool/beach is also good at the two snack barsâburgers, tacos, etc. The evening shows are great (I loved the ABBA show), and there is always live music (piano) in the main lobby during happy hour and after dinner, including a specialty drink cart that changes nightly.
This is an adult-only resort â18 years old and up, so there arenât many wild partiers. People are having fun, but itâs not over the top. However, you can visit RIU Jalisco and RIU Vallarta if you want more nightlife. They offer free shuttles every Friday night to RIU Jalisco for their Neon or White dance party, so you can join a bigger group of revelers and dance the night away.
The resort is within walking distance from Bucerias (check out "Friends of Bucerias" page), and there is a nice brick walkwayâa 30- to 40-minute walk. It's a fun village to visit for shopping and has great restaurants if you want to get off the resort property to a place nearby. We walked there one morning, then took a taxi back for $10. The Palace is also a 10-minute taxi ride to the marina at Paradise Village, where we took a whale watching tour. Donât miss this if you're there before the end of March! The Malecon boardwalk and the Romantica Zone in Puerto Vallarta are also fun to visit, and about a 40-minute taxi ride ($30 one way).
We will return to see our friends at RIU Palace Pacifico soon and are thankful for their gracious hospitality!
