A life of adventure is the greatest gift he could give me ✨
👉 I always knew the traditional corporate and working world wasn’t for me. The idea of working without stop until my 60s horrified me enough to figure out how to afford gap years, how to start freelancing, how to diversify my income, and in general, how to think outside of the norm.
And let me tell you, it’s hard to find a partner willing to take your “crazy” ideas seriously! Before Tim, most of the guys I dated, while generally good humans, were pursuing lives that seemed dreadfully boring and conventional to me.
And it’s fine that that they wanted that! And it’s fine if that’s your thing too. Most of my closest friends have more conventional families and lives than I do and they are beautiful, wonderful, and fulfilling lives… for them.
I’m just not cut out the same way 🤷♀️
So I found a fella cut from the same cloth, one who is willing to take calculated risks, bet on ourselves, and chase our wildest dreams together, even if they don’t sense to everyone else. ❤️

I’ll never forget a conversation I had with a former coworker about my car over a decade ago. I had just bought it for $2.5k off Craigslist and he was baffled why I wouldn’t just buy a new car with my salary.
What he didn’t know is that I was saving up for my and Tim’s first trip around the world. I needed a car to get me to work in the meantime, but I didn’t need a car that would last me any longer than maybe a year, since that’s when I was planning to quit my job and leave the country.
In the years leading up to that first round the world trip, Tim and I got in the habit of saving all our money so we would have it for our travels.
A decade later and the habit remains! We rarely buy each other gifts, instead opting to spend our money on experiences we can enjoy together. Sometimes that’s a big trip, and sometimes it’s a date to the movie theater.
What matters most is making memories together ❤️

The mining ruins made this hike extra unique, and hiking in the fall meant we got to frolic through the golden aspen forest too 🫶🍁
🤔The structure in the water is an old gold mining dredge from the early 1900s. Up until fairly recently it was slowly sinking in the water until the structure was stabilized to prevent future decay. You can see signs of the area’s mining history throughout the trail and the info boards are worth reading to learn more about the damage mining caused to the environment and the impacts it’s left still today.

Our daughter’s name is Mara, and yes she’s a cat!
Like fur babies, human babies aren’t for everyone, and that’s ok! If you also feel like having kids isn’t the path for you, don’t let anyone make you feel guilty or like your life is less-than because of your decision!
Our friends will tell you we’re the most enthusiastic non-biological aunt and uncle - we’re OBSESSED with our friend’s kiddos. And more importantly, I’m so happy that like Tim and I, they’ve been able to create the kind of family they’ve always wanted.
I’m so grateful I’ve been afforded the freedom to make my own reproductive decisions, as so many do not have that option, including those who long for a child but cannot have one for any number of reasons.
My hope for everyone is that we can all create the life we dream of, whether it includes kid or a cat or both or none of the above. It’s up to you! And isn’t that a beautiful thing ❤️
