Another person booked onto the safari next May!

He loved his Amazon boat trip a few years ago, and has been wanting to do a safari for awhile, but no one would go with him! Small group tours are great for people like that, for when you're tired of waiting for others.... go with others who want to go to same places!!

Super excited for another couple going on safari! I first met her when she came on a hosted trip with me to Belize and Guatemala!

She's going on a super cool safari that goes along the lower coast of South Africa (which is stunning!) and even goes to a micronation of Eswatini!

Best part.. she got an extra discount for her AND her husband just for being a teacher!

So teachers, let me know if you're interested in a teacher discount too!

G Adventures pushed out a new travel style called solo-ish, and I really want to try it out! It's specially designed for just solos, but also solos who are used to being... Solo! So it has more "me time" built in, and also all female guides (trying to get more females in the travel industry and also a larger proportion of solo travelers are female, so making us comfy!

I've been to most of the places they currently have on offer, so I'm looking at these three.

Feel free to vote which one you think I should do and/or let me know if any of these could be a group trip!

Options!

1. Sailing Greek Islands from $2599. I've been to Greece, but not the Islands! A small boat experience is better than the mega ships because you don't have to wait! I've also been obsessed with Epic the Musical (Musical about the Odyssey) so thought this would be fun!

2. China from $2299. I've been to China, but only Beijing before leaving for the Transmongolian train trip. So not going to any other cities was real sad for me. Plus my visa is still good for another few years so might be better to go so I don't have to reapply or pay.

3. Vietnam from $1499. I haven't been to Vietnam, so this has a lot of appeal because it would be a new country! I also have had some clients go there before and it looks amazing.

I'm working on getting a professional photographer to come on safari with us. Would that be a value add for you?

We've discussed not only giving the others pics of the animals, but also a photo workshop and maybe some professional portraits (or flying dress 👀😂).

Would that be something that you'd find beneficial?

So only 6 spots left!

What do you think about this breakdown? I def have gotten a bit spoiled on ship size with the smaller ships (200 passengers or fewer) to Antarctica. It always feels more luxurious with a smaller group of people and getting to know everyone.

I haven't been on any of those MEGA ships. Not sure I can handle it? Not only all the people, but I do worry about the environmental impacts.

Anywho, this question came up while I'm working on getting more familiar with Seabourn

Here are some reasons why smaller ships are preferred for some and feel more luxurious:

1. Easier to make friends and meet people because you'll see them more frequently.

2. Getting on and off the ship is SO much faster and easier. I heard on one ship in Greece that it took HOURS

3. Deck space is scattered around with lots of smaller areas rather than one large area. This makes it easier to find quiet and secluded spots to enjoy the scenery and relax.

4. Crew get to know you better like your name and preferences. Some of these smaller ships are almost a 1:1 ratio! I particularly like this because I love making friends with the bartenders and they learn my preferences!

5. No inside cabins, and cabins and suites are larger because they're intended for longer trips and more comfort.

6. Less time waiting

7. Fewer people on excursions

8. No nickel and diming! I have enjoyed cruises are lines like Carnival and RC, but the prices always go up and up as you book as you add extras on. Luxury lines those are all included so you don't have to stress about adding on anything unless it's a special treat.

Avoid the TRICKS and TREAT yourself to a trip that's specially planned for you!

Don't be scared! It's just Black Friday sale for G Adventures!

And if you wanna chat about where to go, what it's like... you know I've been to over 85 countries, and I've been G Adventures top US agent for the past 5 years.

You're in good hands :D

I've personally been with them to Antarctica, Jordan, Colombia, South Africa/Zimbabwe, Colombia, Belize/Guatemala, Peru, and India! And have blogs about those as well.

So where do you want to go?

What's your number? What are top 3 want to sees from here?

Happy Honeymoon to these two who jumped on the extra discounts and OBC I had for Virgin Voyages !!

They're going on a lovely cruise with a hammock on their balcony, and they'll also be seeing a wonder of the world!

Can't wait to finish planning the rest of their romantic and fun honeymoon with additional stuff before and after!

Their ports are Rome, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Cannes, Corsica, and Pisa. Do you have any reccos for them as well?

I remember his first trip was to India, and it's so fun being a part of multiple trips with you all and seeing the cool places you go.

My childhood friend from elementary school just booked onto my group safari!!!

I remember in like 6th grade bringing her back some frogs from Puerto Rico because she liked them, but I think her actual fave animal is a Giraffe!!! And now she gets to see one in person! Can't wait to see her see one lolololol.

We're heading to South Africa May 31 - June 6 as a group to do my fave trip (tied with Antarctica). We're going to Kruger, of course, but the real magic is a private game reserve to get close to the animals!

Overtourism.

I'm sure you've seen/heard about cities like Barcelona and Venice fighting back against tourists.

From gouging prices higher, airbnbs pushing out people being able to live in these areas, and just some cities not having the infrastructure to support tourists. It seems like cruise ports are the bigger offenders.

Do you think it's a problem?

I personally just don't like to be around that many people anyway which is why I skew to small group trips and ships myself.

On a webinar with Quark Expeditions to learn more about their new Arctic season for 2026 including the ECLIPSE!!

But the Arctic has new parameters for distancing to help protect the polar bears more. I know a lot of photos make them look super close, but we do have to keep some distance to protect these powerful beasts that are still quite vulnerable.

I like that Quark put this disclaimer "Photos capture with a telephoto lens from a *responsible* distance, following regulatory/AECO guidelines."

I think it's good to confirm that it was done responsibly/ethically, while also establishing it's with a telephoto lens.

Have you ever felt l ike you went somewhere with a bait and switch? Misleading photos? Expectation vs reality? Reminds me of when I went to the Amazon to see a clay lick to see a bunch of macaws. The pictures made it seem so close, but they were so far lol. So I'm glad they're setting realistic expectations!
