I don’t usually post about the behind-the-scenes of my job—mostly because I’d rather post photos of cocktails by the pool than of my desk covered in travel guides. But today, something happened that gave me a little reminder of why I do what I do.

A client who booked with me once before reached out to plan a family vacation in March. She already knew the dates, the resort, and even the price she wanted. But here’s the part that got me: she said she’d rather book through me than go online.

To her, it’s just a couple of emails and a quick ‘book it’ to make her trip happen. But to me, it’s like, cue the confetti and happy dance!—her choice actually makes a real difference. Sometimes it’s the difference between a great week or a week of coffee and instant noodles. Let’s be honest, booking through me doesn’t get her a better rate, but it does get her me (lucky her, right?). She can ask all the questions she wants (and she did—about a brand-new resort that isn’t even open yet), and she gets my support if anything goes sideways on her trip.

In some cases, I can score some perks, or sweet extras, but in every case, my clients are way more than a number on a screen. They get my actual cell number, and they know I care. So thank you to every one of you who books with me—you make my day, my week, my job, and sometimes even my month! You’re awesome, and I appreciate you more than words can say!!!
