Thanks to The Big Game Hunting Blog for our mention.
Check out our friends at the Broadview Land Company and their novel new take on owning your own hunting ranch.
Avid hunters dream of owning their own ranch or farm allowing them to control all aspects of their hunting season. Many hunters have spent season after season hunting public land only to come back after taking time off work frustrated and exhausted, not to mention having their hunts blown by the random mountain biker who peddles down the deer trail. Instances like those multiply the frustrations when you're hunting out west. Not being a state resident makes western hunts even more difficult, because of lack of time to scout, the lottery system for that coveted tag, and five day seasons unlike many of the months long whitetail seasons of the south east.
Buying your own farm or ranch does makes it possible to control more aspects of your season. Owners are able to place their stands where they want them. They're able to access prime hunting area at designed points and plant food plots providing the game with the best possible habitat. Whitetail hunters can be successful at controlling much of these points by purchasing as little as 150 acres. Although a purchase like this is a substantial investment, hunters with a passion for western big game are not as fortunate. Elk, mule deer, antelope, and mountain lion all have huge home ranges making it not only more difficult to manage the game for trophy class potential, but putting the financial outlays of buying enough ranch land beyond the capabilities of most who aren't blessed to be listed annually on the Forbes 400 list.
All of this was a problem until a group of partners (three to be exact) put their heads together and found a solution to their own frustrations. It started in the fall of 2015 as a “what if” dream that turned into reality when they formed Broadview Land Company. Their goal: Simplify this process for hunting enthusiasts - well about 25 lucky landowners, to be exact.
What is Broadview Land Company? Their concept pulls together 25 like-minded hunters who crave access to miles of unaltered landscape and hunting lands in Colorado. The luxury home sites are painstakingly selected to create a private exclusive retreat for each landowner with access to over 50,000 acres of prime, managed game lands. However, they still have modern amenities and access to a full service lodge with guestrooms, lounge, fireplaces, dining areas and a commercial kitchen for preparing the day’s harvest.
What’s the kicker to this luxury lifestyle? Each land purchase brings with it the holy grail of elk hunting; a landowner tag entitling the purchaser to harvest one bull elk annually from the ranch. Then you add in the other trophy opportunities like mule deer, antelope, mountain lion, and world-class fly fishing. Those become an added bonus.
Admittedly, it's not like this is a totally new idea. Golfing and fishing communities like Elk Springs Lodge, Victory Ranch, Brays Island Plantation, have been extremely successful in providing many miles of pristine fishing water, golfing, and hunting preserves to select groups of sportsmen and women. None have been anywhere as extensive as what Broadview is offering.
Wealthy sportsmen dream of having 50,000 acres to roam, track, and hunt - but couldn't imagine it would ever be possible. Thanks to the partners at BLC, it's now an option, if your wallet is thick enough. I just need to get my name in the hat before they fill up!
