A hatchback full of my grandmother's vast collection of miniatures, lace trims, ribbon, beads, and decoupage prints...with a side of Garden Variety Eggs egg art...heading to the Ohio Egg n' Art Show in Strongsville, Ohio.
As much as I love drawing birds, I have always found owls to be a special challenge. I finally ponied up the courage to attempt a barn owl. He will make his debut at the Ohio Egg N Art Show next weekend.

Three goose eggs dyed with black walnut hulls. Two floral imprints with hydrangrea, one solid dyed ready for scratch carving. Onion skin dyed egg for color comparison.
Preparing my first batch of black walnut dye in at least three years. It looks a mess now, but fingers crossed for gorgeous results.
Three Vintage "Seminar Eggs" for Sale.(late 1970s, early 80s) Local pickup/delivery in Lehigh Valley preferred. Presumably assembled by my grandmother, the late Kathryn Johnson.
Egg #1 Rhea. Double heart shape doors open to diorama of evergreen tree with cardinal and painted snowscape. Outside of egg is natural shell color adorned with gold findings. Ornate base and top cap.
Egg #2 Rhea or Emu. Intricately carved egg with several angel faces incorporate in design. Fiber optic filaments in the interior of egg. (I have not tested with 2AA batteries yet). Unique matching base.
Egg #3 Triple egg design of rhea goose and quail in a truly elaborate and skillful design. Sky blue Rhea eggs encases cut out gold goose egg which encases a white quail egg with blue floral design. White doves and the mechanism to turn the top cap to rotate the inner eggs provide a wow factor for this beautiful addition to any collection.
$75 each. $180 for all three. Plus actual shipping if required. Can send additional photos later this week for serious inquiries.
The Eggs Original Egg Art Show & Sale continues today, April 30th at the Forks Township Community Center in Easton, PA. (10am-4pm) I will be there with my Pennsylvania German style eggs as well as a variety of craft supplies and vintage eggs for my grandmother's estate.
There may be space available for a beginner pysanky workshop from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Other vendors are selling a variety of egg art and supplies for egging and other crafts.
To my local egging and crafter friends. I am holding a partial estate sale of my grandmother's (Kathryn Johnson) egg art and supplies. There are several "Seminar Eggs" that two different people say are Glenroy Denkel designs (circa early 1980's?), various other decoupage/scene/dyed egg art, plain shells, bases, small florals for scenes, miniatures, and a ton of paper and cards.
I will be at her home in Easton from 8am - 11am on Friday, and 3:30 - 5:30 on Saturday. Please RSVP through Messenger and I will provide the address.

GVE is in Stroudsburg today at the event. Just had a fellow crafter come up to me and ask if I had been at the Crafts in the Warren Tech show years ago. When I said yes, she went on to say she bought a bleeding heart imprint egg that she hangs on her Christmas tree each year.
As an artist, you seldom know how or if your creations continue to be used or appreciated. My heart is happy to know that this woman, a fellow creative, is still enjoying the piece she purchased nearly 10 years ago.
Gorgeous day for the first Phillipsburg Open Air Market! Will be here on Jersey Street next to Shappell Park until 2pm.
My first two pieces using an engraving pen. Nice bold white lines really pop. Just in time for the opening day of Phillipsburg's first Open Air Market this Sunday, July 10 from 10am to 2pm at Shappell Park. This may be the first time I am showing my eggs in my hometown since the Egg Show moved from the Youth Center 12(???) years ago.
This little v***n found her forever home on her first day out. Goose egg dyed in onion skin, hand etched with X-acto knife.
I'm getting excited for the Eggs Original Show this Saturday. Busy finishing up some scratch-carved pieces with my new $1.25 glasses.
It's been three years since the last show, and I can't wait to be in a room full of talented and creative egg artists.

Easter Around the World is this coming Saturday, April 9 at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem, PA. In addition to an original exhibit of Easter traditions, featured Artists - Christina Deutsch , KL Crichton, and Jen Wanisko will be showing and selling beautiful egg art.
Tonight's project (top photo) was building a mini-display featuring quail, parakeet, and finch eggs.
