There was lots of damage in Jamaica from the hurricane, but they are slowly recovering. A lot of local areas of Jamaica are still out of electricity and water.

Most resorts are up and running again with the help from lovely guests!

Times are changing in the airline industry.

As of April 24, 2024: Air Canada is automatically assigning a seat at check in for free (which has happened previously) but now unable to change unless paying a fee.

Customers with Aeroplan Tier Status benefits are not impacted by this new process.

Going forward if you are booking Standard or Basic Fares, you also need to pre-purchase seat selection if you want to guarantee sitting next to your travel partner(s).

These days flights are flying with almost all seats full. If you wait until check-in to be assigned the "free of charge" seats, it's highly likely you'll be getting middle seats & highly unlikely you'll be sitting with your person.

Lesson to note: Select and pay for your preferred seats at time of booking to avoid disappointment. 😞

About 5 minutes after this beautiful photo of my 2 youngest kids.. something I never thought would happen in a resort did..

A man came up, picked up my middle child (age 2) who is wrapped in a towel and threw her onto another chair (not pictured) and took her towel. At this point, there was numerous witnesses and I was screaming for security.

He then proceeded to attempt to grab my baby (6 months old) and ripped the towel from under neath her as I grabbed her (thankfully I got her!)

He was stating those were his towels, and his chairs (nothing was there when we sat down at 830am this incident was after 11am!!)

He then proceeds to get up in my face with 2 babies in my arms yelling at me about stealing towels and chairs.. (security still hasnt come)

My husband arrives at this moment, and I take the kids and run to the lobby to find help. The man follows me and in my face. So I punch him in the face and the lobby calls the police on me.

My kids are screaming because they are scared. They are cold with no towels.. I keep yelling for someone to get my kids towels and they just ignore me.

No manager available. No security available.

Police arrives and no one speaks English 🙃

I ask for westjet agent, no one on duty today at resort. I email westjet, no response. I ask to use the phone - they cant let me use the phone. I asked for doctor to check out my daughter from being thrown, he's not available.

Moral of the story: be very aware and careful when traveling. Im a travel agent and still cannot leave this resort. This is a 4 star resort. When people request 3 or less stars, I always encourage higher. The police in Mexico cannot even help me as no English. Westjet is not responding to me to move resorts (I could pay myself a taxi and pay a new hotel if I really wanted to, but why should I pay more?)

I am beyond thankful something much worse didnt happen because Id literally be stranded here!

Also, another reason I won't return to Mexico - my mom is severely handicap. They landed on the tarmac knowing they had a client in a wheelchair. Westjet said they requested from Cancun airport for an elevator and they wouldn't provide one. They forced her to walk down about 20 steep steps to get off the plane. She has now been bed bound in so much pain for 3 days. Unacceptable.

& yes I will be demanding ALOT of compensation for all issues when I return.

Travel agents get bad experiences too.

I will still share more about this resort and hopefully more positive experiences this week - but I am always very honest and truthful with my clients ♡♡

Been a while since I said Hello!

I dont usually promote Mexico much due to its high crime .. I always tell clients to book somewhere else if they can (and not Cuba either due to lack of food and water)

However, as a family of 5 ... its hard to find family suites at an affordable price.. so we decided to come to Mexico for the last week of winter break.

And I must admit, I will continue encouraging clients to avoid Mexico.

Stay safe friends ♡ saving a little money is NOT worth it.
