Another year and another Redbull Hardline done. Firstly a big well done to the crew who overcame challenging conditions and terrain to bring power to one of the remotest locations in the mountains of wales!
As part of our company ethos to change the industry one job at a time, by providing sustainably efficient and innovative solutions to power in remote locations under tough and demanding conditions - this year we have furthered the use of battery storage technology across site and broadcast to reduce the run time on generators and also improve the kWh produced per litre of fuel.
Broadcast power in the mountain was almost exclusively run on battery units, removing 6 generators from the mountain, which has not only reduced the environmental impact from burning HVO, but also has had a positive influence on the spectator and broadcast experience, zero noise and zero emissions from our battery systems. These were then brought off the mountain and recharged overnight each day via a hybrid system.
All in all we’re moving towards a fully renewably powered broadcast, and are going to be complimenting this approach with additional new technology next year both at Redbull Hardline and other events.
