This is the 'hot tub' at Drumossie Bothy at the moment folks. We apologise but temperatures may not rise sufficiently to thaw the pipe that supplies the water to it at least for a few days. But the Bothy is cosy inside and the views through the windows look on to your private winter wonderland.

We cannot recommend a night at the Downright Gabbler with our friends Jane and Garry enough. There is nothing like this in Inverness. Kirsty's food is amazing and Jane and Garry leave you feeling like you've learned a bit about Scotland's history as well without even trying. Check out this film for an idea of what you can expect.

What a fabulous night out for the team from Caledonian Holiday Lets last night. We were 'living the dram' with our good friends and convivial hosts at Downright Gabbler Amazing food, service and company and we learned a few things too! Well worth a visit if you want to learn about Scotland's history on a plate and indeed in a glass.

We took a road trip to Easter Ross this afternoon. First stop was Portmahomack, a first for all of us. The youngest member of the family business took these photos. Then it was on to Balintore to marvel at the Mermaid of the North. A beguiling sculpture and a great story of Donal who was captivated by her beauty and so kept her and took away her tail. After raising a family together, she discovered her tail which he had hidden away and returned to the sea. Each day she same back to shore to see her children and give them freshly caught fish. All this is on our doorstep within one hour's drive of Inverness.

A great day in Gairloch yesterday. Majestic scenery the entire journey, sun broke through the mist to treat us to a glorious afternoon at the beach, perfect family day out. The icing on the cake came in the morning when we visited Gairloch Museum. Now in its new purpose built home, I'd completely forgotten that I'd contributed to the crowd funding campaign a few years ago. So delighted to see my own pictish fish amongst the shoal that greet you on arrival. Gairloch is definitely worth visit.
