This Group was ESPECIALLY founded for the purpose of campaign for Group Travel by Train (TBT) from Malaysia to European and Middle East countries which would be held by Autumn 2011. The route of the travel would be : Malaysia-Thailand-Cambodia-Vietnam-China-Russia-Europe...Apart from that, our mission is also to promote travel by train throughout the world as an interesting & joyful journey especially to all our members..
It had been feared that the trains would disappear completely as normal trains with their carriages re-deployed on rarefied multi-day 'land cruises' for a handful of rich tourists. This seems to have been avoided, with some hard lobbying and a petition.
The journey from Auckland to Wellington on NZ's North Island Main Trunk Railway is one of my favourite journeys (and much more historically significant than a branch line to Greymouth).
