🌺 ONE YEAR AGO...
My memories keep reminding me that this time last year we were on the vacation of our lives. We have traveled quite a bit in almost 17 years of marriage, but if you ask either of us, this vacation ranks as #1. Sandals Regency La Toc has our hearts 🩵 and I could tell you about St. Lucia for days.

From the helicopter ride from the airport to the resort; to the amazing accommodations with our view over Sunset Bluff; to our fabulous Joes Knows excursion with Chocolate Thunder; to our outstanding butler service- every detail planned was over-the-top amazing. But what was also amazing, was everything we couldn't plan. The sunsets, the rainy afternoon spent in a hot tub with drinks, late-night karaoke in the bar, and meeting new friends. So many memories... How soon can we get back?

Every year I must re-train, test, and certify with Universal Parks and Resorts to maintain the title of Universal Orlando Resort Specialist. I need to stay up-to-date with everything in the parks and resorts to best help my clients plan and prepare. And let me say, every year it makes me want to go back!

KINDERDIJK, NETHERLANDS 🦢 🌷 🌾
I could have walked around Kinderdijk all day. We lucked out with the most beautiful weather and the photos of the windmills don’t do it justice.

Kinderdijk is preserved Unesco site and home to 19 windmills that were built around 1740 and are still working as a water management system to protect the land in the Netherlands from flooding. It’s honestly an amazing system. These windmills are still homes to “millers” who are responsible for making sure the windmills are running efficiently. So each windmill is home and unique to the family living there. The most recently miller is a 21-year-old female, and rumor is she’s one of the best.

Kinderdijk was the most serene of all our stops, the quiet, the farmland and countryside, the wildlife, away from the busyness of the cities. It was the perfect last stop and a must-see.

BACK IN OFFICE! 💻
After two weeks of travel, spending some quality time with my kiddos on their spring break, and celebrating Easter, today I am back in my office on this rainy Monday. I am still jet lagged 5-days later (I used to bounce back faster), and I have a lot to get caught up on, both in my office and personally, so please be patient as I dig out of my inbox and get caught up on calls.

RÜDESHEIM, GERMANY 🍄
I finally made it to Germany! I love my German heritage and was excited to finally be here. I could have spent some more time here for sure. From the town park with beautiful flowers (and mushrooms) and live music. To the busy side streets with hanging lights, lined German pubs and polka music. To beautiful vineyards on the hillside. This town spoke to me.

We had a traditional German meal at a local restaurant where we all ate, drank, and danced. Lots of memories were made.

And Rüdesheim is known for its specialty coffee, “Rudesheim Coffee” made with a specific liquor Asbach Uralt, produced in the town. The ship did a coffee demonstration and served it to everyone. It was delicious.

STRASBOURG, FRANCE ⛪️
Our last stop in France was to Strasbourg. We explored La Petite France, ate macaroons, and visited the cathedral. Strasbourg is also located in the Alsatian region, which is a mix of German and French cultures. This is a hot spot during the Christmas Market season.

VILLAGE OF COLMAR 🥖
📖 This storybook town in France 🇫🇷 is known to be where Beauty and the Beast was based. And I could picture sweet Belle walking down these little cobblestone streets, book in hand, as we explored the canals of Little Venice.

🗽 It’s also the home of Bartholdi, the sculpture who created the State of Liberty. You can find his artwork around town and a miniature version of Lady Liberty at the town entrance.

PARIS! 💋
We had the most amazing time in Paris. We took the train from Amsterdam which was such an easy and enjoyable experience. We arrived and had the most amazing meal of escargot and beef Bourgogne.

We woke up to a drizzly morning of sightseeing: we visited Notre Dame; St. Chapelle; The Louvre; Arch de Triomphe; Sacré Coeur; the town of Montmartre where we bought macaroons and visited the Moulin Rouge; stopped by a cafe for crème brûlée, and then it was time for the Eiffel Tower.

As soon as we arrived the skies cleared and the sun came out and we viewed the city from the top. It was BEAUTIFUL. We stuck around the area to see the tower at night and the shimmering lights which happen every hour on the hour starting after dusk.

ASTA CONFERENCE DAY #4&5
These last two days in Amsterdam were busy. I toured 12 different river cruise ships from 9 different cruise lines. It’s amazing how although all the ships had similar layouts they were so different. (But that’s for another post.)

A highlight was meeting Sandra McClemore a well known name in the travel industry and our keynote speaker and was the sweetest.

We also spent an evening on an amazing Food & Wine tour exploring the local cuisine and hot spots. From cheese, sausage, herring, original stroopwafels, “war fries”, jenever and bitterballen at a local pub, it was a memorable night full of food and history. Sad to say goodbye to this amazing city, and I certainly hope to return soon. Next stop, Paris!

AMSTERDAM DAY #2 🥑
Today we watched the river boats arrive. We spent the day exploring the city more and had lunch at the Avocado Show. It was so cute and also delicious. We then walked around the city, exploring the floating flower market and shopping district. We enjoyed the famous stroopwafels. We wrapped up the afternoon in a local pub. Then it was time to start work. ASTA held a fun opening reception.

AMSTERDAM DAY #1 🚲
It was a long day and we crammed as much into a day as possible.
Today we:
- at Dutch pancakes at the Pancake Bakery
- toured the Anne Frank house and museum
- visited the Moco Museum
- toured the original Heineken brewery.
- enjoyed a canal cruise to see more of the city.
- had a traditional Dutch dinner at 't Heemelrijck
I am loving this unique little city with its canals and dancing houses!
