This is definitely a thing for entrepreneurs! Because this *ish is hard sometimes. We don’t always get the results we want or the ideal clients. Sometimes the money isn’t flowing. Sometimes, managing our comparison is not done properly. Many times, we are just not kind to ourselves. We face discouragement and disappointment on a REGULAR. And yet we continue.

Can I let you in on a secret? Not only do I want to quit my business sometimes, but the 9-5 is not safe from these thoughts as well. Even with a regular paycheck, the job can offer nothing but burnout and a lack of fulfillment.

Who is with me?

The only upside to these feelings is, that they may fuel your passion for your business.

Despite these feelings, we will keep going to work or working on the business. For many of us, QUITTING is not an option!

What’s crazy to me is that when we get these feelings in our relationship, we actually WILL STOP. Even if we don’t “quit” our partners, we stop doing the things we need to do to keep the spark alive. And in that small way, we have prioritized our JOB or Business over our relationship. (knowingly or unknowingly)

Trust me! You don’t want to run your business without a partner. Most businesses have partners, yes, even solopreneurs have “partners”. (If you don’t have one or a few, it will be hard for your to be successful) Partnership looks differently depending on the business. Examples of partnership could be equal shares, mastermind group, business besties, support services like accountants, lawyers, graphic designers, etc.

“You want to go fast, go alone. You want to go far, go together”

If you are running your business AND you’re in a relationship. Your partner IS your partner in business too. EVEN if they don’t have anything to do with your business.

Your partner will be there for you during your highs and lows, your successes and challenges, your moods and motivations. They will be a sounding board for you if you need it. They can offer encouragement sometimes without saying a word. They can support you with household duties and bills that can allow you more capacity for your business. They can step up with parental roles that can give you more time to network or go to conferences. Your bae is your “invisible” partner there to offer things unseen by the outside world.

· As things changed in the relationship, there was not a system to handle that change. (as things changed for Microsoft or Amazon they adapted because they had a team to support the business to be ahead of the curve, be innovative, and survey what the market wants, and because of it they are still winning in business)

Not to burst that happiness bubble, but there is one more protection I want you to consider. There are countless examples of businesses and empires that have taken MAJOR hits. Not due the market or lack of a great product or idea. It was because of DIVORCE!

Jeff Bezos had to give his now ex-wife 3.8 billion (with a B) in their divorce. The Gates had a similar story. See just like many of you, they started their relationships BEFORE they made it BIG. They believed they would be with the “love of their life” forever. And maybe they would have been but here are a few things they got wrong:

· Couple Care was compromise- The business took so much time and energy that the relationship was not a priority.

· Outside influences played a part because the connection was lost.

· The kids were the foundation of the relationship. Without those kids-focus routines, there was not left for the relationship.

· As things changed in the relationship, there was not system to handle that change. (as things changed for Microsoft or Amazon they adapted because they had a team to support the business to be a head of the curve, be innovative, survey what the market wants, and because of it they are still winning in business)

· They didn’t hire a team to manage the relationship like the business.

Don’t make the same MISTAKE! As you strive to get your millions or billions, don’t risk your relationship in the process. You want to be successful but not solo.

For years in lieu of therapy, folk took their problems to the salon or barber shop! This is a place to vent, get advice, and often just to validate your feelings on a subject. Makes sense, right? We are all seeking community. It feels amazing to have someone to talk to on difficult or touchy subjects. It feels awesome to know that you are not alone, others are experiencing the same things. It is wonderful to be able to speak your truth and not be in the doghouse because of it.

Time and time again we have heard about the famous top 3 (not to be mistaken with the top five alive, we can talk about that at our Mixer!) You know what your priorities in life are. Many people have very similar for their one and two (not to be confused with the one’s and two’s). Folks say: God then Family. Some say Family over everything. And number three is usually the passion of the person. In the movie “The Best Man” it was God, Family, Football.
What is it for you?
How you can truly assess what your priorities are, asks yourself, where do you put your time and money? The average worker in the US with a middle to upper management job give 50+ hours to work. When not working, they are thinking about work!
The average entrepreneur invests thousands of dollars each year to grow the business. To fuel their passion.
How much are you investing in your “Top Three”? If most of you time and money is going to number 3 or 5. Try this exercise. Say out loud: my top three is BUSSINESS, Family, God, or Friends, Food, Fun. Whatever it is. And if it feels good to you. GREAT! If you know the order in your heart, show it by investing your time and money in your priorities.

We are in May and have you notice the great job the MOM PR reps are doing? That’s right, moms are going to be celebrated as they should. The jewelry stores and florist are getting ready, and the ads are out there to prove it. But if you think the buy a necklace or having flowers delivered is going to win over a partner that is feeling under valued and unappreciated. I don’t mind breaking it to you, it ain’t gonna do it!
Please if you have a tradition in your household of getting something for your children’s mother, don’t stop on account of this email. However, I suggest you get rid the generic and boring and basic way you have come to celebrate her. I am asking that you get more creative with your gift. I am asking that you create an EXPERINCE that is about her or expresses yourself more deeply.
Here are a COUPLE of tips:
• Show that you support her dreams and ambitions before she became a mom. Pay for a course or training she has been looking at. Invest in her DREAMS. Remind her that you see ALL of her. She is so much more than the amazing mom. (The memory maker in you would buy the book “You Can Have Both” and with the card say, take my credit card and SIGN UP for the program you wanted to do!)
• “Favorite Things” – Get a few of her favorite things in a series/category such as self-care, business, beauty, fun, fashion. In the card say these are a few of your favorite things. Then list a few of your favorite things you LOVE about her. FIVE is the minimum! Get into those double digits. (Note this can be done for your mom, wife, or baby mother) This will demonstrate your appreciation and grant you greater connection.

It’s Spring again! And we are ready to be outside! After a couple of year cuddled up with your BAE, eating and watching TV, and did I say eating. This may have felt like CONNECTION. After all you were spending A LOT of time together. For your sake I hope it really was, because things change when OUTSIDE IS OPEN.

The sense of control and mastery gained from doing something you are skilled at can keep you centered in your life. We are asking you to be honest with YO SELF. You know the one that if you continue to be honest with yourself you asked GOD for, Made many sacrifices to get, actually would be devastated if it ended…That one, you honestly feel is NOT worth investing in?
