Shan’s Mountainside Chalet

We are thankful to be able to report that Shan’s Chalet weathered the effects of Hurricane Helene with the most minimal of damages. We had NO water damage, and once the tree was removed, a downed power line and some broken solar lights are all we have to address…we are incredibly lucky. The area was hit hard so it will be a bit before water and power are restored, but everyone in our Powder Horn neighborhood has been accounted for, which is a blessing. We are ready for fall with the new addition of a fire table and comfortable seating area to the porch! The covered porch now offers seating for up to 8, and a large gas grill - enjoy an evening relaxing and watching the deer visit the creek that runs along the side of the property.

Lots of upgrades happing at Shan’s Chalet over the past month! We now have fiber internet available for guest use (plus an Insignia Fire TV), a split unit that addresses humidity and will keep the house comfortable year-round, and a bathroom remodel! Come check it out…

Shan’s Chalet offers you a place to truly escape from everything! Sitting at the end of a road on over 1.5 acres, this quaint 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage comes equipped with everything you need. Shan’s Chalet is perfect for hosting two couples or small families, sleeping 4 very comfortably, and up to 6 if utilizing the fold-out couch with air mattress.

Upon entering the home, you will enjoy a stone fireplace with gas logs. The kitchen ties into the living area with a stone island with barstools for casual eating. Also on the main floor is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, full bathroom with tub, and laundry room. Upstairs is the second bedroom, which also has a queen-sized bed. There is an en suite bathroom with a shower stall.

From the main level, the living room and kitchen open to a covered porch with a large grill and table for 4. There is also an uncovered portion of the deck that provides an open area for playing games or lounging in the sun.

The home is located within the lovely Powder Horn Mountain community, with more than 10 miles of hiking trails, playgrounds, a tennis/pickleball court, a seasonally-open outdoor pool, and lake activities (fishing and kayaking/canoeing) available to all guests.

Convenient to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Lenoir, Shan’s Chalet offers guests the option of exploring the area or remaining in our lovely community for the duration of their stay.

Please note that the home is in a remote location, with no internet currently available, and limited cell phone reception.
