CJ here...

With some sadness, I am announcing that we are not able to be the part of Moonshine that we wanted to be. So, we have decided to withdraw from the weekender in the hope we can be involved next year.

It is nobody's fault, but we got involved at too short notice to make it the Mariachi experience that people want and deserve. We wish everyone involved with the weekend every success. Hell, we may even pop in for a boogie!!

I am sorry we faffed around and were not able to make staright announcements. We tried our best but we just couldn't make it happen.

The good news from all of this is that the heart of Mariachi is beating again. It seems there are people who want this back in some way, shape or form. So, we are looking to host a special very soon.

If we are bringing back the freestyle, do people want/need workshops: either to remind themselves, open themselves or to begin the journey to expressive dance?

I have missed the music, the dancers, the moments. There have been many dances following the Mariachi example: some are pale imitations, some have moved expressive dance forward. It seems time we enjoyed the original again...

As ever, we are open to your thoughts.

A lot of you have been eagerly awaiting news and although we are still finalising details we thought we would share ..... We are delighted to announce that Mariachi is back!! We are proud to be part of the Moonshine Vintage Festival 2017 weekender hosted by the four Scottish Swing scene organisers on Friday 6th to Sunday 8th October.

The weekender, at the Peebles Hydro hotel, located at
Innerleithen Rd, Peebles EH45 8LX, will feature a number of classes including Mariachi and the taster classes (will add in attachment)

The facilities available to weekender residents include breakfast Saturday and Sunday
mornings, 3 course gourmet dinner Friday and Saturday nights, 2 all night freestyles in three rooms incorporating Lindy, Blues and Fusion (Mariachi) as well as a full range of relaxation and spa facilities and a very short walk down to the beautiful sleepy
village of Peebles.

There are various packages available for the weekend to suit everyone's budget !

Anyone buying the Mariachi package will also have the opportunity to have an inclusive
lesson before the evening social each night where you can dance in the three rooms until the last one standing, or even dancing!!

This is a wonderful opportunity to spoil yourself in a seriously luxurious environment and to get your Mariachi on.
There will be great tunage, space to really express yourself on the dancefloor and an opportunity to also experience full on Lindy as well as Traditional Blues.

I an working away with my tunes playing in the background trying to think what was my all time favourite track to listen to, dance to and watch you all express yourself and it is proving difficult!

And so it is...

Mariachi is taking a break.

This isn't an easy update to write but real life has taken over. As much as I love Mariachi, and everything we have done together over the years, it has been more and more difficult to give Mariachi the time it deserves.

And so, September 6th will be Maricahi's last event for the forseeable future.

We shall be hosting a masterclass type of workshop where dancers will bring their questions and we shall address them as best we can.

In the evening, there shall be a Tea Dance as ever, maybe even with an extension where we shall play some of our favourite tunes from over the years, celebrating the music and the dancers that have made this event so spercial and so, so dear to all our hearts.

I have no doubt the Mariachi team, past and present, will want to give their own views but, for me: just thank you.

I have loved Mariachi and everything it has brought me: dances, tunes, experiences and many dear and close friends. I have loved sharing and giving a little piece of my heart with each event.

I'm not saying we have closed forever: there may well be one-offs, specials, that kind of thing but for now, we are on a much deserved hiatus.

There are far too many people to thank personally for everything they have brought to Mariachi and so I shall do that privately in the fullness of time. But to every single person that has ever crossed our threshold, anywhere in the UK, thank you, with everything that I am, for making Mariachi what it turned out to be.

Okay it appears there is no sign of the June Musicality and Movement Workshop event or the tea dance! Not sure what I've done so whilst I try figure it out, here's a little reminder that our workshop will run the first Sunday in June as always followed by our traditional Mariachi tea dance :) Pauline 😊

We are so looking forward to this Sundays workshop and Freestyle 😊 its an extra special one ! 7pm Start , fabulous sharing table, awesome tunes with an extra special Dj travelling up to treat you , yep the wonderful Pete is joining us! 😊 as per tradition for a May freestyle we will have some midnight munchies suitable for all and some treats through out to keep you going into the small hours! 😊 Looking forward to seeing you then!

Its with a heavy heart we have to cancel our April event! 😞 but unfortunately due to ill health, it is physically impossible! 😞 to all who have booked please accept our sincere apologies! We will be in touch with you personally to arrange a refund f payment!
We shall be rearranging this workshop for May and pushing the dips and drops forward to June!

THANKYOU all for your continued support! Keep an eye out for changes to May freestyle as we have guest dj's travelling to treat you to some amazing tunes, midnight munchies, late finish and more surprises!
