Braga Romana is a festively celebrated annually with the recreation of the early life of what was the Opulent Cidade Bracara Augustus that remains present in every corner of this city.
After the Cantabrian Wars that ended the conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, and installed the Roman peace, the Roman Emperor César Augusto founded Bracara Augusta, presumably between the years 16 and 15 BC.
The new Imperial City owes its name BRACARA to the indigenous people who occupied the territory, and the epithet AUGUSTA, in honor of the Emperor who founded it.

Anualmente Braga Romana é celebrada festivamente com a recriação dos primeiros tempos de vida daquela que foi a Opulenta Cidade Bracara Augustus que se mantém presente em cada recanto desta Cidade.
Terminadas as Guerras Cantábricas que puseram fim à conquista da Península Ibérica, e instalada a paz romana, o Imperador Romano César Augusto funda Bracara Augusta presumivelmente entre os anos 16 e 15 a.c .
A nova Cidade Imperial deve o seu nome de BRACARA ao povo indígena que ocupava o território, e o epíteto de AUGUSTA, em homenagem ao Imperador que a fundou.

Built-in 1512, the iconic Porta Nova Arch never had a door. At the time of construction, wars did not take place with the frequency of previous centuries and, as such, the door was considered expendable. It was an innovative and beautiful new concept.

Today we went for a family walk along the riverside of Gaia - Porto, under the magnificent Arrábida Bridge, built by the great Portuguese, Engineer, Edgar Cardoso.
