Edit: Just realized that the building closest to the center of the picture is the Children's Museum of Memphis, which was once the National Guard Armory...home of the Memphis Belle for many years.

Delivered this Beech Musketeer from Linkin Park.....er.....Lincoln Park NJ to Sydney Ohio this past week. The vacuum pump failed on the way. But in the end, it didn't even matter. Video coming soon, so follow.

Looking for a good place to practice eights on pylons the other day, I spotted this east of Crawfordsville Arkansas. Its called Tier 1. They have courses in marksmanship, close-quarter battle and evasive driving among other things.
EDIT: I did not use this area as a pylon. Too large and too risky. I was not close enough to tell if live fire was happening and I had no intention of getting close enough to find out.

Doing some safety pilot stuff with a friend in his Piper Dakota over Eastern Arkansas while he wears his foggles.
For the non-pilots, "foggles" are 'foggy glasses' (view-limiting device) that only allow a pilot to see the instrument panel, which simulates flying in clouds.

The control tower at Millington is getting remodeled thanks to a sizeable grant.
Meanwhile, ATC is operating from a portable "tower". I watched as the old beacon came down....and I think I saw Chip and Joanna wandering around there.

Plane spotting- An Ercoupe taking off from West Memphis Arkansas. There are many of these that just sit, but this owner keeps the cobwebs out of his. Where have you seen an Ercoupe?
Going through more family 8mm movies and found this Memphis aviation footage. According to my grand dads handwriting, it was 1959. It's a treasure trove of vintage plane-spotting, so watch til the end. Id' love to talk to one of the young boys that just got out and hear their accounts.
Here's some footage of my parents when my dad was in Air Force tech school at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois in 1968. He captured some of the static displays on his 8mm movie camera, and I have edited out most of the non aviation related scenes.
