🎉IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!! 🎉

Kicked off this new year with a trip that started in Tunisia 🇹🇳. More to come on that, but first, here are a few things I’m thankful for this year:

-The ability to travel, which, after 2020, I’ll never take for granted again. Being able to take a break from the daily grind is nice too
-A group of top tier friends and family who I know I can count on. I’m surrounded by so much love and my heart is full ♥️
-After starting off my 30s sad about being “old”, realizing these really are some of the best years I’ve had so far

Can’t wait to see what this year holds ☺️🥳🍾

The Tiger’s Nest is an iconic symbol and perhaps nearly synonymous with the country of Bhutan.

Located some 10,000ft about sea level on a cliff in Bhutan’s upper Paro Valley, the site is super impressive. The legend behind the temple is that a Buddhist guru flew to this site on the back of a tigress and the place was consecrated to take the Tiger demon.

You can’t take pictures inside, but it is definite just as impressive inside as it is outside. The trek up is a about 3-4 hours up and down, but definitely worth it!!

One of the favorite parts about my time in Nepal was visiting the historical cities that surround Kathmandu, like Bhaktapur.

The Kathmandu Valley is filled with historical sites - in fact, there are 7 World Heritage Sites in this area alone!

This area has been inhabited for over 2000 years, and is home to the Newars - the indigenous inhabitants of this area.

If you do find your way here, you have the chance to see some really cool architecture, and learn more about the politics, culture, and religion that has made the region what it is today.

The Urban Light art installation opened in 2008, and was the design of Chris Burden who collected lamp posts for 20 years (!) before the install.

It’s the perfect place for a nice photo opp (I’m joined by a few of my college besties in the 2nd pic ☺️). And nearby you can visit the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the La Brea Tar Pits (photo #3).

Amber Fort is an impressive fort near to Jaipur that was built in the late 1500s on top of a fort from the 1100s. The palace was home to the Rajput rulers who dwelled here until the capital of the princely Jaipur state was moved to Jaipur city in the 1720s.

The fort features several beautifully kept courtyards and intricate designs - like the detailed carvings in this window. And as the fort sits atop a hill, the views from the palace itself are just incredible 😍.

Be sure to add this to your list if you plan to travel to Jaipur!

Do volcanos fascinate anyone else besides me? Don’t get me wrong though - I certainly don’t want to be close to one that’s erupting lol.

The Arenal Volcano most recently erupted in 1968, after being dormant for nearly 450 years. It’s been said that the days-long eruption made the sky dark for multiple days as it sadly destroyed the towns that surrounded it.

The eruption was so powerful that it reshaped not only the volcano’s cone and the surrounding landscape. It is inactive now, but you can still see smoke rise from the top.

If you are visiting Costa Rica, I definitely recommend that you add this one to your list! Most tours to the volcano’s lookout also include a stop at hot springs as well. Just a great way to spend the day overall.

How is it already February?! January was somehow both extremely long and very short 😵‍💫. And…I still don’t have any big trips booked for the year yet. Typically I’d be itching to book something, but the “epicness” of last year may have worn me out just slightly haha.

I have plenty of pics to catch you up on this year while things get sorted though ☺️.

Where are you planning to travel this year? Give me some inspiration below! 👇🏾

Also shoutout to .estrella for this impromptu photo shoot in Costa Rica! Nothing like making a few friends when traveling solo who are also trying to capture their best angles 💁🏾‍♀️.

Mexico City is hands down one of my favorite destinations. It’s full of colorful neighborhoods, amazing food, friendly locals, (ruins!), and beautiful architecture - like this mosaic.

It as also pretty free of tourists, when compared to other destinations in MX, like Cancun or Tulum. This makes it pretty easy to navigate, IMO. And it also won’t feel like you’re essentially still in the US.

Is CDMX on your travel list? Let me know below!
