All this talk about the new Wicked movie has me missing the Wizard of Oz scene in The Great Movie Ride (RIP 1989-2017) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios 🎥
Did you know that The Great Movie Ride was originally planned as the main attraction in a show business themed pavilion at Epcot?
Today, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad resides in the Chinese Theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But if you look closely, you can even see a few nods to its predecessor including a mailbox in the tornado scene with the iconic No Place Like Home quote. 🌪️

If you go to experience The Great Movie Ride, what was your favorite scene?? If not, what’s your favorite part of Runaway Railway 🚂 ??

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Hope all of you who celebrate are having a wonderful and safe holiday full of friends, family, food and football!
I did not watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (because I don’t get up early unless I have to!) but
every day at Universal Orlando during the holiday season you can see Universal’s Holiday Parade Featuring Macy’s! In it, a number of floats parade through New York and Production Central in Universal Studios Florida, featuring characters from Despicable Me, Madagascar, and Shrek. Santa himself makes an appearance!

Universal’s Holiday Parade Featuring Macy’s takes place nightly at 5:30 in Universal Studios Florida. Dates and times are subject to change without notice.

ICYMI: Disney announced on Friday that The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!
Of course, every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end, and this VERY EXCITING news came paired with the sad news that we will have to say good bye to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith and Muppets Courtyard (RIP rat pizza) including Muppet Vision 3D 🖤

Truly a historical gem, Muppet Vision 3D was Jim Henson’s final project before he passed away.

Disney stated in their announcement: “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.”

In response to the news, the Jim Henson Company released the following statement: “Jim Henson’s final project was Muppet*Vision 3D, now regarded as a true theme park classic. Innovation was always Jim Henson’s north star, and his trailblazing career led him to a unique challenge: a truly immersive Muppet experience where audiences are part of the happy chaos of the iconic Muppet Show. Originally debuting in 1991, Muppet*Vision 3D combined 3D technology with real-world practical effects, alongside animatronic and live Muppet characters. The result was a one-of-a-kind Jim Henson experience, and an unforgettable capstone to Jim’s magnificent career. As we learn of the show’s upcoming closure in its current form at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , we look forward to Muppet*Vision 3D’s next act.”

There are currently no closing dates for any of the nearly departed attractions so there’s still time to take one more super stretch limo ride and see a rousing final Salute to All Nations, But Mostly America

Happy Birthday to the #1 Mouse! Mickey Mouse made his debut on Nov. 18, 1928, in the animated short “Steamboat Willie” at the Colony Theater in New York City. That film also marked the public debut of Minnie Mouse. Both Minnie and Mickey had appeared previously in “Plane Crazy,” a short film that was distributed after “Steamboat Willie.”

Here are some other facts about Mickey Mouse:
🌟 Mickey was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks.
🌟 Mickey made his first live appearance in 1931 at a stage show in Los Angeles.
🌟 Mickey made his feature film debut in Fantasia in 1940.
🌟 Mickey’s first word was “Hot dog! Hot dog!”.
🌟 Mickey has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
🌟 Mickey has different names in different countries, including Musse Pigg in Sweden, Mi Lao Shu in China, and Topolino in Italy.
🌟Walt Disney originally voiced Mickey and he is currently voiced by Bret Iwan.
🌟 Disney legend has it that Walt Disney’s inspiration for Mickey came from a mouse at his Laugh-O-Gram Studio in Kansas City. After losing the rights to his Oswald the Lucky Rabbit character, Walt set out to create a new character that he originally named Mortimer. It was Walt’s wife Lillian who suggested he be named Mickey instead.

🇺🇸 A VERY Happy Veterans Day to those who served today! I snapped this picture quickly last week as they were getting ready to start the flag retreat ceremony at Magic Kingdom. The ceremony is a tribute—a thank you to veterans for their service, sacrifice and dedication to protecting our country.

Before hitting all 4 WDW parks yesterday, we stopped at Satu’li Canteen in Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to check out the new breakfast menu!!
🍞 Cinnamon French Toast with blueberry cream cheese, passion fruit anglaise, and sausage
🥔 Slow-roasted Pork Shoulder Potato Hash with chorizo sausage and charred onion sauce
🧀 Vegetable-Goat Cheese Frittata with wood-fired beef tossed in chimichurri

All 3 were delicious, but I think my favorite was the pork shoulder potato hash. 🌟
1 other option that we didn’t try was the Tropical Pandoran Forest Fruits with fresh yogurt, muesli, and honey 🍯

🍽️ Meals range from $11-$15 each or 1 Quick Service credit on the Disney Dining Plan or Disney Quick Service Dining Plan. Meals on the dining plan would also include a beverage!

Satu’li Canteen has been, in my opinion, the best quick service restaurant on Walt Disney World property since it opened and this breakfast menu makes it that much better! 10/10 would recommend in my book especially when you have an early morning rope dropping Animal Kingdom!
