Happy Birthday to the #1 Mouse! Mickey Mouse made his debut on Nov. 18, 1928, in the animated short “Steamboat Willie” at the Colony Theater in New York City. That film also marked the public debut of Minnie Mouse. Both Minnie and Mickey had appeared previously in “Plane Crazy,” a short film that was distributed after “Steamboat Willie.”

Here are some other facts about Mickey Mouse:
🌟 Mickey was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks.
🌟 Mickey made his first live appearance in 1931 at a stage show in Los Angeles.
🌟 Mickey made his feature film debut in Fantasia in 1940.
🌟 Mickey’s first word was “Hot dog! Hot dog!”.
🌟 Mickey has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
🌟 Mickey has different names in different countries, including Musse Pigg in Sweden, Mi Lao Shu in China, and Topolino in Italy.
🌟Walt Disney originally voiced Mickey and he is currently voiced by Bret Iwan.
🌟 Disney legend has it that Walt Disney’s inspiration for Mickey came from a mouse at his Laugh-O-Gram Studio in Kansas City. After losing the rights to his Oswald the Lucky Rabbit character, Walt set out to create a new character that he originally named Mortimer. It was Walt’s wife Lillian who suggested he be named Mickey instead.

🇺🇸 A VERY Happy Veterans Day to those who served today! I snapped this picture quickly last week as they were getting ready to start the flag retreat ceremony at Magic Kingdom. The ceremony is a tribute—a thank you to veterans for their service, sacrifice and dedication to protecting our country.

Before hitting all 4 WDW parks yesterday, we stopped at Satu’li Canteen in Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to check out the new breakfast menu!!
🍞 Cinnamon French Toast with blueberry cream cheese, passion fruit anglaise, and sausage
🥔 Slow-roasted Pork Shoulder Potato Hash with chorizo sausage and charred onion sauce
🧀 Vegetable-Goat Cheese Frittata with wood-fired beef tossed in chimichurri

All 3 were delicious, but I think my favorite was the pork shoulder potato hash. 🌟
1 other option that we didn’t try was the Tropical Pandoran Forest Fruits with fresh yogurt, muesli, and honey 🍯

🍽️ Meals range from $11-$15 each or 1 Quick Service credit on the Disney Dining Plan or Disney Quick Service Dining Plan. Meals on the dining plan would also include a beverage!

Satu’li Canteen has been, in my opinion, the best quick service restaurant on Walt Disney World property since it opened and this breakfast menu makes it that much better! 10/10 would recommend in my book especially when you have an early morning rope dropping Animal Kingdom!

Breaking Walt Disney World and Disneyland News! ‼️

In the coming weeks, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will begin piloting a new service providing expedited entry to theme park attractions: Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be offered in very limited quantities and will give guests one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane entrance in the theme park they are visiting that day. This includes attractions included in both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, but with Lightning Lane Premier Pass, guests do not need to select an experience time. Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be a premium offering, and prices will vary based on the date and theme park guests are visiting.

At Disneyland Resort, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be available October 23, 2024.

At Walt Disney World, when Lightning Lane Premier Pass launches, it will be available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts and may be purchased up to seven days in advance of their stay. The first date it will be available is October 30, 2024.

Walt Disney World Announcement:
We (Disney) will continue to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Milton. Based on the latest projection, we are making additional operational adjustments for the safety of our Guests and Cast Members beginning Oct. 9.

The Walt Disney World Emergency Operations Center is connected to weather experts and community leaders. Please know these adjustments have been made in order to leave plenty of time for our Guests and Cast Members to return to their Resort hotels or homes safely hours before higher winds are expected to reach Central Florida.

Operational Impacts Include:

Walt Disney World Theme Parks
▶️ On Oct. 9, our theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1 p.m.
▶️ Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1 p.m.
▶️ Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2 p.m.
▶️ It is likely the theme parks will remain closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. We will consider opening Disney Springs Thursday late afternoon with limited offerings.
▶️ This includes the cancellation of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom on Oct. 10. Event tickets will be refunded.

Disney Resort Hotel Closures
▶️ Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.

Transportation
▶️ Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Wednesday, Oct. 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close. Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.

Recreation
▶️ Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Reservations for Dining and Other Experiences
▶️ Effective immediately, we will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences.
Pre-paid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.
