How we move docks on the Gunflint. How do you put in your dock?
I have been away for a couple months but it's time to get the wheels rollin again
Couldn't be more ready for summer. Ready to get after smallies with northland tackles new line up, ready to get my tan on and ready for more hook sets.
Had the day off to start the new year and I found a TON of small fish and lost a couple good eaters at the hole. No monsters so I'm still waiting for that! I found that the fish really liked a plain hook with minnow, any size minnow would work, the fish didn't hit hard they just slowly took the bobber down(not surprising considering I didnt get anything over 20inches). I really needed to give them a good 6 seconds before I set the hook. I was fishing In 30 feet of water but I've talked to guys doing better in shallower water or even the river. The bite is still good, you just need to pick through the smaller fish. As the day progressed the fish would move closer to bottom not the foot or two I mention in the video. Fishing was HOT between 10:00am-1:00pm and like clockwork the fish shut down at 1 and I didn't have another bite for an hour so I packed it up. Being a ice fishing guide on LOTW has been life changing and I couldn't be more ready for the future. #hsmoutdoors #KenMarKeresort #stcroixrods #clamoutdoors
This video shows a little bit of how I'm fishing! I'm working on getting better at commentary so its all a learning experience for me! However, super excited to be able to start with the videos for #HSMoutdoors. Spending the morning on Good ol' Lacs. Im cranking with 7 foot rods with medium action. Im a strong believer in that you need a very forgiving rod when cranking. Throw some 10 lb fluorocarbon to let that bait get a ton of action, you will not loose fish with light line if you turn down the drag and let em fight. (make sure the fish is strong enough when releasing) Them walleye are very abundant up there! I truly don't know what the DNR are doing up there. Tried a whole new side of the lake and did alright! Someone could spend days up there on their electronics finding key spots! This is my first year running around with Side imaging on my finder and its absolutly unreal! One of my best investments for fishing.
