UPDATE from the Delmarva Irish-American Club: "The very last thing the Delmarva Irish American Club (DIAC) wanted to do was to have to cancel this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Unfortunately, the forecast from the National Weather Service for Saturday has left us (the club) no choice. After a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19, the Delmarva Irish American Club was prepared to bring back the largest and best St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the State. However, our members do not want to put our volunteers, participants and the thousands of spectators that line our streets for the parade in hazardous and unsafe conditions. The Ocean City St. Patrick’s Day Parade has become an Ocean City tradition and has created one of the busiest weekends of the year in Ocean City. The DIAC promises to return next year to continue the tradition! So, until next year we wish everyone a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Ocean City, MD! Slainte!"

MD lifts restrictions on masks....

Following the announcement yesterday on the change in policy by the CDC and in consultation with our health department, team of public health officials, and medical experts, the State of Maryland will be lifting the mask mandate in addition to all other capacity and distancing restrictions.

For the time being, and also following CDC guidance, public transportation, health care settings, and schools are the only exception.

For anyone who has not yet been vaccinated, masks are still strongly recommended in most situations. However, if you are fully vaccinated, you should feel free to safely resume any activities without wearing a mask indoors or outdoors.

Businesses across the state and other workplaces are obviously free to set their own policies with respect to masking, and we support their ability to do so.

Today is the day that so many of us have been waiting for and working toward. We finally do clearly see the light at the end of that tunnel.

Our long, hard-fought battle against the worst global pandemic in more than a century is finally nearing an end. As we reflect on the hard work and sacrifices that it has taken to finally reach this point, we say thank you to the countless Marylanders who helped us get here.
