Our Egypt adventures continue!

The Temple of Abu Simbel is about 3 hours from Aswan. This temple was moved when the Aswan Dam was built so they wouldn't be flooded. This temple took about 20 years twenty years to build and was completed around year 24 of the reign of Ramesses the Great (which corresponds to 1265 BC).

It was dedicated to the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah, as well as to the deified Ramesses himself. It is generally considered the grandest and most beautiful of the temples commissioned during the reign of Ramesses II, and one of the most beautiful in Egypt.

Besides taking in all of this history we were able to check out the local spices! Popular herbs were parsley, coriander, cumin, fenugreek, caraway, rosemary, sage, mint, cinnamon and carob.

We enjoyed an early morning hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Queens followed by a visit to both Queen Nefertari's tomb and Queen/Pharaoh Hatshepsut's Temple. ☁️ 🎈

Nefertari was an Egyptian Queen and the first of the great Royal Wives of Ramesses the Great. She was highly educated and able to both read and write hieroglyphs, a very rare skill at the time. Her lavishly decorated tomb, QV66, is one of the largest and most spectacular in the Valley of the Queens. Ramesses also constructed a temple for her at Abu Simbel next to his colossal monument there.

We also visited the amazing Queen Hatshesput's Temple carved in the hills. Erased from history, Hatshepsut demonstrated great leadership during her time in power, and she reigned for more than 20 years. This leader dedicated herself to the role of pharaoh to the extent where she dressed like a man with a false beard and headdress because only men were leaders during this time in history.

She was the second historically confirmed female pharaoh, after Sobekneferu We can't wait to share our next stop: Abu Simbel Temples

While this time in our history is overdue and women still have a ways to go, there has never been a better time for us all to take our personal destiny and passion into our own hands. For us, it was a passion for travel and making flying fun again.

We wanted access to the private jet world, but also to address the environmental concerns of the empty legs, drive point to point pricing, remove the intimidation barriers of booking, and share the cost if desired. We're in Cairo, Egypt! First day soaking in all of history and the larger than life -Pyramids of Giza.

In all of it's wonder & mystery, we can confirm this: from the towering Pyramid of Giza, to iconic sculptures of sphinxes and gods, the Egyptians were undoubtedly masters of craftsmanship.

While we cannot solve all environmental concerns, we at VolJet had anticipated the need for shared rides and mitigating the thousands of daily empty legs (planes flying empty.) We built technology to reflect the change we wanted to see.

Once upon a time, one could fly at supersonic speeds across the Atlantic reducing the journey between NYC & London to 3 hours (over 6 today) & cruising at 68,000 ft (vs 38, 000 ft today) while enjoying one of the most amazing commercial in-flight experiences of fine dining & fine wines. And it was just as amazing as it sounds.

Take a look at our trip to a not so distant past when flying was not only elegant, but FUN. As aviation lovers, our VolJet founders made a quick stop at the. at JFK. Needless to say, it exceeded expectations.

Today aircrafts sit at different museums & airport sites around the world. It was retired by both & in 2003. Here is a throwback to one of the greatest commercial flight experiences ever created by humankind.

Our founders are grateful to have been a part of this special journey and share memories of flying this masterpiece of engineering.

With the holiday season almost upon us, we thought we'd share this napkin folded by the one and only (who we met in Beijing in 2020) that looked like a kimono. Perfection. So many amazing memories at the iconic .

Here's just a "taste" of the delicious cuisine we experienced while visiting italy. We dined at Tancredi Restaurant, which is situated on Lake Garda with stunning views from the terrace. 🍽

Our scrumptiously simple (and green) dishes were a nice pace from the traditional, heavy Italian foods. Vegetarians can rejoice since it's now mushroom & truffle season.

After a day of adventures, we set back on the "riviera" which took us to the Grand Hotel Fasano.

Grand Hotel Fasano is a 5 star hotel on Lake Garda (the largest lake in Italy located on the edge of the Dolomites halfway between Venice & Milan). A great holiday escape (with an amazing spa & wellness center) right on the landscape of upper Italy. Bellisima!

Our first stop: Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square) in the main pazza of Milan. We took in the beauty of architecture and art.
