One of the strangest parts of doing this project is the fact I almost didn’t want to change anything at all. I say almost but even that’s a stretch. More than anything I wanted it to be the same as it always had been only, what that meant, was having the people there who made this place so special. I know I can never have that but it’s always been in my mind, that I needed to make this home something beautiful, transform it, but not so much that it was unrecognisable…

I think I’ve achieved that. At least, I hope I will have by the time the finishing touches are added.

Thank you and for putting up with me and helping with my need to drastically change everything but keep it all the same 🙏🤗

Help please!! Anyone with experience of Miele washing machines… worth it or don’t bother? Appreciate this is the epitome of rubbish posts but I am actually going to throw my current washing machine off a cliff 🤬
My NEW Samsung washing machine has had more new parts than Trigger’s broom and it still won’t work. I am at boiling point and just need it gone. Seems Miele customer service has pretty good reviews so am looking for not only a good reliable machine but also solid help if it does go wrong. Samsung sadly are abysmal.
So, Miele, worth the premium? All help very much appreciated! 🙏

Can’t wait to get this finished. Still can’t make my mind up on vanity unit though. Being honest, as we hope to move fairly soon, I can’t get myself comfortable with the cost of the one I’ve fallen in love with. Trouble is, nothing else comes close 😢

So excited to share that, at long last, this labour of love can soon be completed and that, by this summer, will be available for luxury holidays on the Isle of Wight.

I’ve had many months of thinking we’d never get there and regretting even starting it but I hope we’ve turned a corner and that those regrets will soon disappear.

A good friend once said, when you’re walking through hell, keep going! He was absolutely right.

A little reflection:

Every year for as long as I can remember, I’ve vowed to be better. Be a better mum, be a better friend, be a better wife, work harder, achieve more, finish things I’ve started, have a cleaner/tidier house, crochet, sing, re-learn the piano, bake, travel, read, use my phone less, be more present…. The list never ends and at the end of every year I look back and feel I’ve failed to live up to the expectations I placed upon myself. I criticise, berate, and swear again I’ll do better next year, won’t let it happen again.

Nothing is ever good enough.

So I’ve decided, I’m not doing that again this year. I’m going to do what I’ve realised I always do and that is my best. I’m not a perfect mum, wife, friend, daughter. My house isn’t a showhome anymore. I get things wrong and I don’t get up at 5am and fill every nanosecond with productivity until midnight. I don’t always play with my children when instead I’m cooking their dinner or am applying for my dream career to become a trainee lawyer. I struggle to reply to messages and sometimes can’t face interaction. Sometimes I do sit on my sofa for an evening and do nothing because I’m just knackered. But that’s ok.

I realised I wouldn’t judge or criticise anyone else for doing the things I do or don’t do so why do it to myself?

So if you’re ending the year and starting another feeling inadequate… DON’T! You’re amazing, just as you are. You ARE good enough. Give yourself a break!

When one’s obsession with goes a little too far. I haven’t tried to copy her lounge as closely as possible, even down to the windows either side of the fireplace…. Honest 😌🤣🙈

I’m saying nothing about being on the home strait, the finish line being in sight or anything of the sort as I’m not going to jinx it but I really really do hope the winds change direction and start blowing us the right way soon 🌟 My vision is looking a little more like I’ve been imagining though 💗

11 years married to my best friend 🥂 who I love more with every day that passes.

A selection of piccies of some of our adventures, just a snippet really, but I felt picture one had to be one of our greatest achievement.

We’ve been through some pretty rubbish times, especially over the last few years, and even today/this week is one we don’t want to repeat. But while we’ve decided to postpone our anniversary until this little storm blows over, knowing I’ve got you by my side through it, whatever the outcome, makes it doable. No matter what, we have each other and our beautiful children and really, nothing else matters.

I love you more than you’ll ever know. Together forever, onwards and upwards.

Another before/now you might not believe but, I promise, is 100% genuine (I know because I used to play carpet bowls across the floor of pic one many moons ago, trying hard not to hit the skirting under the sideboard and now I can’t because there’s no carpet! 🤣)

This whole room is the product of my obsession with . My architect thought I was crackers but I just needed the windows either side of the fireplace because that’s what Sophie has 🤷‍♀️
