Folks hope to see you all at players award night= Friday - its sure to be a great night- we have 2 trophies on the top table and have reached 2 more finals so it has been a good year overall
Kev.

22/11/2014

Congratulations to the Raheny under 12 hurlers and management -winning promotion to Division 1 today beating Thomas Davis today 2.15 to 2.8 - 2015 looks like to be exciting year for the Juvenile Section. Well done lads.

15/11/2014

Folks - what a year for our juvenile hurling section and the hurling section as a whole is having and i just feel we need to spread the word. I felt it needed to be put down in one posting

The under 16 hurling group managed by Phil Nolan and ably assisted by Dave Geary won their Hurling league and also did very well in the championship losing to the eventual winners by 1 point in the quarter final whilst missing a number or key players on the day
Our under 15 group have led by example - winning the double- under 15 B championship and Division 2 League and will now play Division 1 under 16 Hurling in 2015.
A little while ago now but forgotten our Under 14 hurling team did brilliantly in the Division 2 Feile reaching the semi final- this group winning the Football feile Final and reached the Feile All Ireland Semi. A very talented bunch of players .
I am aware the under 13 hurling group under Colm Codd and Aine Owens are also progressing very nicely and are extremely competitive in Division 2 hurling league putting in some outstanding performances during the year
These achievements were matched today by our under 12 hurlers who beat Faughs today - 3.5 to 1.6- and have now reached the Division 2 2nd place play off final playing Thomas Davis next week and hopefully this group will also be Division 1 outfit next year- Please folks when we find out time and location lets get out in big numbers and support these young lads. The future is bright for hurling with these lads breaking thru over the next 3 to 4 years.
The adult hurling section is having a great end to the year with our Under 21 hurling team also reaching the County Final today beating Cuala 1.14 to 0.11 and i believe will be playing their County Final in 2 weeks time just before the Strictly Extravaganza begins.
This follows on from the success of our Junior Hurling Championship winning team as well.
This has not just happened and while i must congratulate the players - the hard work by all the mentors cannot be forgotten - it starts with Seamus Dunne in the ogra and goes all the way up to thru the various teams to Dave Geary , Mick Grenham and Phil Nolan at the under 15 and under 16 level

Folks- i just want to bring to your attention 2 hurling games this Sunday morning and a football game on Saturday afternoon
The Under 15 Division 2 league final against Ballinteer pitch 10 11.30am ,
The AHL5 Play- off Semi final against Clontarf pitch 34 throw in 11.00am
The under 21 A football quarter final championship match against Castleknock on Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm.
Try and get down to support all the lads- the under 15's are a very talented bunch of lads and have already won the B championship and are desperate to play under 16 Division 1 hurling in 2015- the game is on pitch 10 throw in 111.30 and if you have already gone to see the AHL5 lads play against Clontarf at 11am in their semi final -do no go home- get down to pitch 10 immediately after that game and give the lads your support and help them thru the final stretch of the under 15 game.
On the Saturday afternoon the under 21 footballers start their championship campaign against their long time arch rivals Castleknock- it should be a close game and i am sure the lads will appreciate your support. See you down there.

Raheny Seniors ended their AHL2 League Season on a high last Thursday night - needing a win to move away from the relegation zone- they left their best performance of the season till the last game.
Led brilliantly by captain Greg Bennett at centre back - whose covering and distribution was of All Star Standard all night- playing against the wind Raheny burst into the game with some marvellous scores from Eoghan Smyth, Eoin Keogh ,Liam O Shea but none of these scores could better the 2 goals scored by the determined high fielding Darragh Pelly making his end of season cameo role for the hurlers.
Kilmacud continued to show their great club competitive spirit keeping in touch with a number of frees just before half time but Raheny led at the break 2.7 to 0.11.
After a rising team talk led by goalkeeper Eamon "Eggsie " Curley- Raheny began the 2nd half in similar style to the first with points from Paddy Bradshaw after a fine run, Dave Henry scoring a fine point from some 30m out from goal near the sideline and topped off by a 90m rocket launcher point from Jacko Hanley- he tells me it was nearer to 120m - keeping the momentum going.
After this both team exchanged points but Raheny continued to hook, block hassle the Kilmacud players fighting for every ball and all their efforts to win the game was greatly appreciated by the large Raheny support who turned up on the night.
The Raheny defence particularly the 2 Ger's - Sheehy and Coady - holding the Crokes attack at bay- the defence never looking like being breached for a goal at any stage.
When Kevin Roche the referee blew his whistle at the end of the game Raheny had won the game 2.16 to 0.17 and Raheny AHL2 League status was safe for another year. If the ;lads bring this standard of play into the 2015 season theywill be fighting for promotion instead of relegation nest year and will surely bring home the coveted Intermediate Championship- lads enjoy the close season

24/10/2014

Folks - all of the lads in the Senior panel have asked me to send their thanks to all the supporters who went to see us play last night and also thank those who sent good luck messages- there was a huge crowd there last night particularly when it clashed with so many other events, quizes, strictly preparations etc.
For those of you who could make it we won 2.16 to 0.17 and we are safe for another season in AHL2 -

22/10/2014

Folks all of us from the 2014 Senior Hurling panel and management would like you to come out and support us in our last AHL2 League game of the 2014 Season.
It has been a tough season and we are now in a situation where we need to win our last game to maintain our Division 2 status WE NEED all your support to help us get over the winning line- The game is on Clontarf's floodlit Pitch 34/35 at 8pm tomorrow night Thursday 23rd .
Please make every effort to come out- it would be much appreciated

08/10/2014

Lads- just a reminder we are training in Davids tonight-9 to 10 pm- warm up begins at 8.40pm -can I ask all of you to attend at some stage even if injured or running late from work – (Del)so I can get a sense of the lie of the land for Saturdays game.
I will need you bring 3 euros each for the hire of the pitch- the Juniors are doing this – the hire of pitch is 100 euros and coffers have long since run dry.
Kev.

09/09/2014

Well folks last weekend was someone weekend for the Adult football section of the club – the brilliant display of the Junior footballers in winning their Championship on Friday night – with a display of heart, determination and no small measure of skill was remarkable but fully deserved for the work both management and players have undergone this year.
This was followed on Saturday night by 2 fine performances – firstly by the Inter footballers in beating Crumlin by 3 points and then the Senior Footballers putting in a fine display against one of the Championship favourites in St Vincents- the work rate shown by Raheny , the team cohesion , the communication was brilliant to see and also some of the scores were breath taking and with one or 2 players due to return for the championship Raheny will pull off a few surprises yet in 2014 Senior Football Championship.
This weekend is the turn of the Adult Hurling Section and it is time for the hurlers to replicate what the footballers completed last weekend
The Junior Hurlers are playing Liffey Gaels In the Junior C Hurling Semi final at 10.15 on Sunday morning over in Ballyfermot. In the League section of the Championship Raheny beat the Gaels comfortably enough down In St Annes but expect a much sterner test this time.
This team won the D Championship 2 years ago and it is team which provides a vital link in the development of the Juvenile players when moving into Adult hurling and we want these players to be playing at the highest possible level when they commence Adult hurling
Then at 4pm over in O’Toole Park -Crumlin - the Intermediate Hurlers play St Peregrines also in the County Semi final. The lads reached the same stage last year losing by 2 point to eventual winners Setanta and the lads are determined not to lose out this time and they are going to make every effort to return to Senior B Championship ranks this time round.
Both TEAMS need your support to help them achieve these goals so if you can travel to both games or at least one of the games to provide the Raheny Roar all the lads would really appreciate it.
Raheny ABU

Dublin Football and Hurling Championship fixture schedule confirmed.

01/09/2014

Lads –
THE ADULT HURLING TRAINING PLAN FOR THIS WEEK HAS UNDERSTANDABLY HAVE TO BE CURTAILED DUE TO LARGE NUMBER OF PLAYERS ACROSS ALL FOOTBALL TEAMS HAVING IMPORTANT GAMES THIS WEEK AND I WANT TO WISH ALL FOOTBALL TEAMS THE BEST OF LUCK IN THEIR CURRENT GOALS TO REACH LEAGUE PLAY OFFS AND WIN COUNTY FINAL ON FRIDAY NIGHT. YOU WILL HAVE THE TOTAL SUPPORT OF THE HURLING SECTION.

All single code players are to train on Wednesday night at 730 pm – meet pitch 9 but most likely training will be on pitch 12a.

We will then train again as a complete group on Sunday evening 615pm- post All Ireland hurling final- session will TAILORED TO ACCOMMODATE- those who will have played on FRIDAY/Saturday evenings- I declined a challenge game for Sunday evening -due to the expected probable player drop out due to Saturday games -but want all players available- including injured players to be in attendance - to attend the session- this will be the most important hurling week so far this year and we need to prepare well for both Semi-finals.

I would like to Congratulate both teams scoring 2.24 and 0.19 in the respective quarter finals – and also showing a great team work ethic throughout both games- the discipline, composure and team focus on the game goal -was great to see
But both teams also had a high number of wides and a large number of additional goal scoring opportunities which were not taken – this indicates to me that there is significant room for improvement in both squads and this can only be done on the training pitch and this improvement will be required to get us over the line.
Kevin
