What’s in a name?

Sandy was a beautiful soul who was mentally taken at the age of 48 by Huntington’s Disease, a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure. She never got to live out her retirement years. I made a promise to myself that I was going to make the very most of my retirement years. I found my dream home and named it in her honor. Sandy was my mom, mountain is for Georgia, and maison is for Louisiana, meaning home in french....Sandy’s Mountain Maison, est. May, 2018.

Please understand that I’m not someone out buying up cabins that I have no emotional attachment to. This is my one and only and new territory for me. Sandy’s Mountain Maison is my happy place and where I will live out my days. While I am more than happy to share it until I can be there full-time, at the end of the day it’s about what I like and what I want. It’s not going to fit everyone’s taste and that’s fine. I’m extremely proud of it and hope everyone that gets a chance to stay enjoys it as much as I do.
