The Grand Adventure Company was founded out of a desire to provide kick-ass, experienced-filled adventures in a responsible and ethical way, minimising the negative impacts on the environment whilst supporting local people through community-led tourism initiatives.
Adventure, to us, isn’t all about danger and adrenaline but an exploration of environments and cultures, experiencing new things and undertaking rewarding challenges. This could take the form of back-country trekking across unique national parks, learning first-hand about some of the world’s most vulnerable eco-systems or undertaking a rewarding physical challenge. We think that the mountains and remote landscapes of the world are the perfect arena in which to apply this.
From the start, we wanted to do things the right way. Knowing how fragile the regions we travel through are and that going along with the way things have always been done was not good enough.
Our Ethos is what guides our decision making and provides our key focus of protecting the environments and communities we work with. We aim to use this approach to improve best-practice in the destinations we operate and contribute to raising standards across the industry. Otherwise, the wild places, remote communities and enjoyable experiences we love so much won’t be there for the next generations to enjoy.
TAKING THE HASSLE OUT OF YOUR HOLIDAY
We all live fast-paced, on-the-go lives where time is at a premium. Planning your next holiday can often fall down the priority list. It’s not until you find yourself sitting on a sun lounger in a crowded hotel that you find yourself wishing you hadn’t booked just-another-package-holiday! We think you deserve more from your precious time!
We love adventure travel, but planning your trip can be a daunting process. Not wanting to fall foul of unscrupulous providers, unknowingly travelling into monsoon conditions or ending up on some death-defying itinerary. All of this before considering how your trip will minimise its environmental impacts and ensure good welfare standards for the local support teams.
As well as planning awesome itineraries, we also look after all the boring bits in the background too. Using our years of experience and trusted network of in-country contacts, we make sure things run smoothly and safely so all you have to do is turn up and enjoy your trip.
Travelling with the Grand Adventure Company means thoughtfully planned and sustainable itineraries, risk assessed destinations, qualified guides, safe transport and accommodation, assessed trekking routes and activities, backup and support, financial protection for your money, all aimed to give you complete confidence that you can book your next holiday knowing you will have an adventure of a lifetime while being well looked after.
ENRICHING JOURNEYS
There’s more to travel than sightseeing and getting a suntan! Spending time in special places, pushing yourself to overcome a challenge or just spending some time “off-grid” all give us space to develop and learn about the world around us.
Whilst not pushing anything on you (it’s your holiday after all!), all of our trips take the time to explore and learn about the unique and spectacular environments they travel through, your local guide will bring to life the geology and biodiversity of these regions. Through our 1% for the Planet commitment, we also partner with local conservation projects in the destinations we travel to. On spare days there is often opportunity to visit these projects and learn about the local challenges and ingenious solutions.
We also work closely with remote communities to help them deliver sustainable tourism initiatives to our groups. This gives our travellers a chance to learn about different cultures and ways of life, provide a sustainable income to these communities whilst minimising any negative impacts associated with larger groups.
Whether you are already at one with the mountains or pushing yourself well and truly out of your comfort zone, we believe adventure travel is a great way to learn more about the world around you, enjoy incredible experiences and have a positive impact on the destinations you travel to.
