What’s really going on behind the scenes when you open up an online travel booking site and start searching for a hotel?

You’ll get a list of results, but here’s the thing, it may not actually be what’s best for you and your travel preferences.

So many booking sites prioritize profits, pushing trip suggestions based on the inventory they want to fill and suppliers who pay for premium placements.

It’s about what’s best for their bottom line, not necessarily what’s best for you and your travel plans.

If you’re just looking to book a quick trip, they might do the trick. But if you’re like my clients and crave a travel experience tailored to your unique preferences, you deserve more than a 1-800 number and generic recommendations based on who’s paying for ads.

Mexico and the Caribbean are completely different regions but they have one thing in common — endless choices for resorts, hotels, and things to do.

I'm so excited for my clients honeymooning in Hawaii later this month!

If there’s one piece of advice I could give to my future brides out there thinking about starting their honeymoon planning it’s this — don’t plan an itinerary that’s too intense!

That is until you consider a few things:

Thing number one: How soon after the wedding are you planning to go on your honeymoon? If it’s right after the wedding day, you may want to consider a more laid-back itinerary that gives you space to combat the wedding planning exhaustion.

The next thing you want to consider is how adventurous are you normally on your travels? It’s tempting to pack in a full itinerary to make the most of a destination, but don’t pack in so much that you’re not getting the vacation experience you truly want in your heart of hearts.

And lastly, think about what you and your partner really want. Maybe your good friends spent a week hopping through the Hawaiian islands or trekking through the rainforest in Bali, and it all sounds amazing. But no honeymoon is a one size fits all, so think about how much adventure you truly want in yours.

If you’re booking a hotel or resort, you should really know the answer to this question 👇

This is going to sound a little bit out of left field but do you know if your hotel or resort is under construction?

Avoid the surprise of finding out you’re going to hear hammering from 8 AM to 5 PM for the duration of your stay by asking these three questions:

1️⃣ Renovation schedules: The first step is to find out. Call the hotel to ask if they will be planning any renovations during the dates of your stay.

2️⃣ Noise levels: Ask about potential noise disruptions and how they’re helping their guests make adjustments at night.

3️⃣ Room assignments: Request a room away from the renovation area or, if it’s not possible, consider a different hotel.

⭐And the ultimate hack? Work with a travel advisor like me! I won't recommend resorts that are undergoing major construction and will notify you of small renovations.

How far in advance should you book a vacation?

Honestly, it depends on the season and the destination in question. But if you ask me, sooner is always better than later.

A recent survey suggested that if you book a domestic vacation up to two months in advance, you could save up to 20% on airfare.

For an international trip, booking four months earlier can help you save about 13%.

If more luxe accommodations, a private tour guide, a unique experience, a pass for the swanky airport lounge, or just a few extra margs on the beach sounds like a better way to spend that 20%, then it’s about time to get planning.

Out of the office for holiday break!

I am taking a little time off over the holidays to spend time with family and revamp and organize before 2024.

2024 is already set to be a record year with bookings and exciting things! As my business grows, I want to make sure I am serving my clients the best I can. I am taking time to complete trainings and implement some new processes into my business.

Can we all agree that there’s no graceful way to go through the airport?

Between lineups and checking bags, things can get hectic. And don’t even get me started on when you’re running late!

But here’s the good news for my clients:

I make the airport experience easy by helping them keep track of their reference numbers, prep their documents, and make sure they’re checked in.

It’s smooth sailing on the actual vacation too. I’ve done the work to plan the logistics — the connecting flights, accommodations, airport transfers, and all the other little details.

Is Black Friday the best time to book travel? That depends…

I’m more of a “look for value and travel deals year-round” kind of gal, so I’m keeping my eyes and ears open for clients 365 days a year.

Recently my clients came to me with a request to book a stay at a luxe resort in the Caribbean. Their dates were flexible, so I was able to book them in right before high season and on a 5th night-free promotion, saving them a few thousand dollars. 🔥

Black Friday or not, I’m always on the lookout to not just get my clients deals but to get them value for their travel budgets.

Capes aren’t just for Halloween!

I get to swoop in wearing my proverbial cape and sprinkle magic onto my clients’ getaways all of the time. Here’s how:

I give my clients clarity. They don’t feel the overwhelming weight of too many choices because I help them narrow down what they want out of their adventures and the best hotels, experiences, and activities to get them that.

I give them confidence in their travel plans. They don’t second guess, wondering whether they should have booked that other hotel or feel FOMO because they didn’t make the most of their time in a destination.

I take away the overwhelm. Researching, booking, and then managing all the elements of a vacation is a lot of work that my clients don’t have to stress about.

Now I may not be Wonder Woman (officially anyway), But unofficially, I’m essentially a travel lifesaver, or so my clients tell me!

Why I never use third-party websites for air only reservations, and why you should reconsider

What’s a third-party site? A Third-party site is any site selling flights that isn’t the airline directly (Expedia, Kiwi, Gotogate, etc. (

❌ OTA rules and restrictions are way more rigid than the actual airlines. Just because an airline offers free changes with no fees doesn’t mean that a third-party site will also change your flights without charging you.

❌ No guaranteed refunds. While an airline may offer you a credit or a full refund, even if the same fare may qualify for a full refund through the airline, it doesn’t mean Expedia and other sites will honor that.

❌ Airlines are much more willing to come to the table with solutions when you book directly. If you think there’s even a slight chance you may need to change your flight for any reason, book directly with the airline. You’ll have a much better chance of recouping the costs with a flight credit, a change fee, or a refund.

I’m completely biased but I really do feel travel is the best gift you can give yourself.

It’s a journey of self-discovery just as much as its a journey to explore a new place.

It’s a such a great way to shake things up, reset and get out of a funk.
One of my favorite trips to date that I’ve treated myself to was our couples trip to Riviera Maya last November.

There’s something about getting away from the stress of daily life and kicking back with your best friends by your side. Plus, it was a little baby moon for us before our girl Charlee arrived.
