Thank you so much to those of you attending this year’s Detroit Whisky Festival! We truly appreciate your support and want to provide you with a great experience. Below are some answers to frequently asked questions to help you enjoy the event!

// F.A.Q.s //

:: WHAT IF IT SNOWS? ::
We’re tracking the weather just like you and have worked with Eastern Market to ensure the lots and streets will be clear surrounding Shed 3. The event is taking place even with snow on the way. There are no refunds so please plan accordingly.

:: WHAT TO WEAR ::
The sheds in Eastern Market provide radiant heat however, some shed doors may be opened and closed throughout the night to allow our food vendors to load in product to their tables. We suggest bringing a jacket that you’re comfortable wearing throughout the event. There is no coat check.

:: DRINK TICKETS + CUPS ::
Upon arrival, you’ll receive a tasting cup and drink tickets. DO NOT DISCARD THESE ITEMS. We try to be a green event as much as possible so you receive one Greensafe cup that you’ll use throughout the night. There are rinse stations throughout the event. Again, DO NOT DISCARD EITHER OF THESE ITEMS.

:: VIP EARLY ENTRY ::
If you purchased VIP tickets, you will have access beginning at 6pm. We will do our best to move the line in as fast as possible. PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH OUR STAFF. Have your ID and ticket ready. You can either show a paper ticket or pull it up on your phone.

:: GENERAL ADMISSION ::
If you purchased a General Admission ticket, you will have access beginning at 7pm.

:: DESIGNATED DRIVERS ::
Designated Driver tickets available at the door for $25. Once we reach full capacity, DD ticket sales will be closed. This ticket DOES NOT include alcohol samples or cocktails. We offer these tickets for safety reasons so that guests can bring along a designated driver. Attendees who have purchased these tickets and are caught sampling will be asked to leave the event by our security team.

:: PARKING ::
Street and surface lot parking is FREE throughout Eastern Market. There is a parking lot behind Shed 3 but it will fill up fast.

:: UBER + LYFT ::
Please drink responsibly and DO NOT drive if you’ve had too much to drink. Use Uber and Lyft to and from Eastern Market. Our staff will arrange for a ride home for you if you need it.

:: BUYING TICKETS FROM RESELLERS ::
Be wary of ticket scammers if you decide to purchase tickets directly from any individuals. The event is not responsible for any purchases of fake tickets. Do not attempt to resell tickets on any of our social media pages. Accounts that do so will be blocked.

:: COVID & EVENTS ::
For a lot of us, events with a lot of people still cause some worry. Please be considerate of those who may feel more comfortable wearing a mask during the event or those who need a little more space. If you are feeling sick, running a fever, or any other symptoms of Covid-19, please stay home to protect yourself and others. We implore all who are not vaccinated to get vaccinated so we can continue to produce events like these in the future.

If you're not familiar with the charity that drives our events, you definitely should be. Good Spirits helps Detroit kids in need through hospitality events and workshops. Their mission is to leverage their collective influence in the metro Detroit hospitality (restaurant & bar) scene to create opportunities to give back. The hospitality community is a very tight-knit and gracious group of individuals and fertile ground for ongoing support.

The original and longest-running whiskey event in metro Detroit returns to Eastern Market on March 3rd. The 6th Annual Detroit Whisky Festival features the best Whiskeys, Bourbons and Ryes from around the world.

Offering Alternative Therapy with Smiles provides equine-assisted therapy on a weekly basis, year-round to more than 100 children and adults with a wide variety of physical and/or emotional disabilities. They'll be working each whiskey table so make sure to say hello and learn more about their great cause.

Due to the spread of COVID-19 and the recommendations by Governor Whitmer and state health officials, we are postponing Detroit Whisky Festival to Friday, June 12, 2020 in Eastern Market. The health of everyone is first and foremost and we do not want to be a part of anything that contributes to community spread of the virus. All tickets will be honored at the new date. Fans who are unable to attend the rescheduled date can seek a refund for a limited time by emailing [email protected] by Friday, March 13 at 5pm.

For those of you that can hang on and take the ride with us, we appreciate it. Ourselves, our vendors, and our charity partner have already invested so much into this event, even postponing is a big blow to all of us involved. We share in your disappointment but we feel this is the most responsible thing to do. A true legend. We were very honored to have Al Young in attendance the past couple of years.

The Four Roses family is in mourning. It is with great sadness that we share that Al Young, Four Roses Senior Brand Ambassador, passed away yesterday with his family by his side. Husband, father, grandfather and friend, Al was an integral part of Four Roses’ legacy and history, having been with our distillery for more than 50 years. This sudden news is shocking for all of us at Four Roses. Al was truly one of a kind and we will sorely miss him, his smile and his stories.

Al joined Four Roses on June 5, 1967 and dutifully served the distillery in a variety of roles over five decades. In 1990, he became Distillery Manager and in 2007 was named Four Roses Brand Ambassador, a role where he crossed the country, and the world, sharing the story of Four Roses and its Bourbon. He is also historian for our 130-year old Kentucky Bourbon brand, having researched archives, distillery records, news accounts, photos and artifacts. He was a walking and talking Bourbon encyclopedia, and used this to author the book Four Roses: The Return of a Whiskey Legend. Al’s book first published in 2010, and he was in the process of updating its third edition with new chapters of Four Roses’ history.

Al was inducted into the Whisky Magazine Hall of Fame in 2015 and is also a member of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame. More than that, Al embodied the spirit of Bourbon. He was a friend to all, always there with a story and ready for a good laugh together.

We will miss him tremendously, and Four Roses extends our deepest condolences to his wife, Gretchen, and all of Al’s family and friends.
