Rainy days like today remind of how much fun you can have when it rains at the parks.

One of the most important tips that we share with our clients is that no matter which park you’re visiting, if you’re in Orlando, ALWAYS be prepared for rain.

Even if the sun is shining bright and there isn’t a cloud in the sky - prepare for rain.

Even if the forecast says there is 0% chance of precipitation - prepare for rain.

Because it will almost always rain; and many times it’s when you are least expecting it.

So pack the ponchos, compact umbrella, rain cap or whatever. Just make sure you are always prepared!

When we send tips sheets to our clients about each of the parks, we make sure they know about treasures tucked into obscure corners of the parks that are easy to miss.

One example is the Conservation Station at Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s easy to miss because many think it’s just a train ride. But, if you take a little time to catch a ride on the Wildlife Express Train, you’ll find some fun and educational experiences. Guests can learn how to draw a Disney character, talk with some of the animal experts, and even watch a veterinary procedure!

✈️✈️ TRAVELING WITH KIDS ✈️✈️

Personally, having carry on bags screened is the most stressful part of flying because it all seems so rushed and I don’t want to keep people behind me waiting.

When flying with kids, their bags are usually full of electronics and they don’t understand the importance of speed during this process.

So, below are a few suggestions to make going through this process a little less stressful for everyone:

✔️DO talk to the little ones and prepare them. You’ve told them about going on the airplane. Tell them about the bags and devices going through the machine. Explain they will need to listen carefully for directions given by security personnel. Let them know it’s not time to roughhouse or ask lots of questions.

✔️ DO put everyone’s electronics in the same bag before getting to checkpoint area. Only put stuff in kids’ backpacks that can stay in the bag through the screening process.

✔️ DO have kids wear shoes they can take off and put on by themselves - and tie! Otherwise they want help as soon as they are scanned- and that’s when you’re trying to get the bags and electronics.

✔️ Do get to the airport early - even if the kids will be bored. Don’t get stuck having to wait in long lines because you were late and expect not to lose it when the kids ask “how much longer?”

❌ DON’T forget your hat of patience. You don’t want to yell at the kids because you’re frustrated because they don’t know what to do.

❌ DON’T forget to make sure everyone tries to go to restroom before getting in line.

❌ DON’T forget to pack an unopened snack for everyone to enjoy when you get to gate. It’s hard work going through the screening and everyone will want a snack immediately. And it’s a great incentive!

In the end, be prepared. This advice is simple but we forget about letting the kids know what to expect because we are too busy packing for the destination.

EPCOT International Festival of the Arts begins soon and if you haven’t had the chance to experience it, you don’t want to miss it! This festival will run January 17 to February 24 and focuses on your creative side (yes, we will have one - although some have a larger one than others!)

From vibrant artwork, dazzling entertainment, palate-pleasing cuisine and more, there is something for EVERYONE at this festival.

The best part of the festival (other than the food 😉) is all the details added just for this festival. From the moment you enter the EPCOT gates until the moment you leave, you never know what you’ll find. Don’t always assume unique souvenirs are crazy expensive when visiting the parks. At Magic Kingdom, you can have a silhouette of your child (even your four legged ones!) created. I only needed a picture of Mabel’s side profile for him to look at. Plus, you get the entertainment of watching the cast member create the masterpiece using only paper and scissors.

With the frame, I think it only runs around $30 - and it’s not just another random souvenir you’ll donate in a few years!

When we visit the parks, we usually grab something like a granola bar to eat for breakfast while we wait for the bus. But…

After an early morning arrival at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we walked past Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes and had to make a pit stop after smelling their food cooking.

We were not disappointed! The breakfast bowl with bacon was full of flavor! It’s made up of scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, breakfast potatoes, pepper and onions, and bacon.

For those keeping a list, go ahead and this to your list of foods to try.

Disney Lesson for the Day: Never be in too much of a hurry that you can’t stop for food. You never know when you’ll have a great surprise!
