What a week with great friends, Rachel Lykke Campbell and our hubbies! This group helped us with ideas to make this a fabulous trip! We do recommend renting a car! There are so many beaches to snorkel that don’t involve needing to go out on a boat. Here are some highlights!

Snorkeling:
Cemetery Beach (beautiful variety of fish and reefs not far from shore, so makes it easy to swim out and swim back in.)

Spotts Beach (not many fish, but we did “spot” 5 sea turtles and a bat ray. We got great videos with our GoPros. The water only gets 6 feet deep and lots of sea grass on the bottom for turtles to feed on.)

Smith Cove (beautiful landscape and nice place to beach. According to a local, there is a baracuda that hangs out to the left of the rocks, and my fish finding friend got a video of a sting ray! I am a strong swimmer, but the swim back in was HARD for me due to the currents that day.)

Eden Rock Dive Center (we snorkeled the Devil’s Grotto area, but you can also snorkel Eden Rock. This is not a beach area. They have ladders to get into the ocean and a bar area with drinks and food. The underwaterter terrain there is amazing!)

Gamma Shipwreck (on 7MB to the left of Sunset Cove.)

Sunset Cove (This is where we stayed and right outside the cove is a nice little area to snorkel. Pretty calm and easy to go in and out.)

We were there for 8 days so our top restaurants in rank order would be…
1. The Lobster Pot (great view and Lee was our favorite waiter! The food was amazing and great portions to fill up my 6’ 5” hubby! They ring a little bell for tarpon feedings.)
2. Fidel Murphys Irish Pub and Restaurant (easy dinner with great fish and chips, mahi mahi burger, or their chicken club sandwich. Not on the water, but budget friendly for Grand Cayman.)
3. Ms. Piper’s (the guys may not agree with us on this one, but Rachel and I loved this little place for drinks and live music with Hi Tide. We only got beef empanadas and Shrimp Croquettes as appetizers. Lots of fun group pic opportunities there and our waitress Jhennie, was a doll.)
4. Veranda (Wedensday Lobster Night and live music.)
5. Casanova (beautiful view, and ravioli and pizza were homemade. You receive a very warm welcome! They also do tarpon feedings!)
6. Rackam’s (great water view and you can feed your shrimp tails to the tarpon. You can also snorkel right off their deck. It’s a bit boat busy, though. Good options that aren’t too pricey and their passionfruit spritz is YUM!)
7. The Wharf (beautiful view, tarpon feedings, and the grouper was a better option to Mahi. Food portions are on the smaller side, so my hubby was still hungry after leaving there.)
8. Loco at Camana Bay (easy lunch with fresh guac, snapper tacos, espresso martinis)
Well Done

We also had Sunday brunch at Papagallo. It is pricey, but the food was wonderful and if you like Prosecco, it may justify the cost, because they do mean bottomless!

A few other eats and/or drinks were Coconut Joe’s, Coccoloba at Kimpton Seafire, and, Sharkeez.

We were ready to come home (be prepared for rooster wake-up calls), but had a wonderful time on this beautiful island!

This Valentine’s head out to Cayman Crystal Caves to the new “Tree House Restaurant “I hear they have some amazing Fish and Chips!
Join them for lunch after your hike through the forest and into the beautiful caves. You can work up a big appetite on this excursion! This is a dining experience for anyone who loves delicious food and nature.
