It took the full year of clean up, rebuild and recovery but it looks like we are finally ready to reopen for business. Joe had a successful trip down to Sanibel over thanksgiving week to finish all the rough repairs and get things ready to host our amazing guests at a level we all expect.

Big shout out to those who helped get us to this point. Cottages to Castles, SanCap Home Services and especially Donnell Anderson who drove 7 hours to spend a week helping with the finish and paint work, along with a whole lot of sweeping. YOU ARE THE BEST BUDDY!

House status update 10/10..
We got an update from our property manager on island who was finally able to stop by the house. The damage report is about as expected and better than feared.
Yard and entire lower level is trashed. 3" of mud over everything down there. Trees are beat up Lower walls and drainage vents blew out as designed. So the garage level will need to be rebuilt. Garage doors ae damaged/swollen shut. Will need to be replaced. All of the screens on the patio are gone. One AC unit outside is trashed ( the newer one of course...),. The roof is missing lots of shingles but the underlayment is intact and protected the house.

Upstairs is near perfect, no water damage on ceiling or floors. No visible mold - YET. All furniture, pictures and rugs are untouched. One front gulf-facing window is cracked but held. ( BIG PRAISE)
We should have pictures to share later tonight.

Thank you to all who have been praying and asking about the house.. We are feeling better about the future of Blue Pelican's return as our island retreat.

We may have some good news. Beverly found this image in the NOAA Storm tracker sight. The roof looks beat up but it's still on. The overall damage does not look that bad from the satellite image.
