Since Charlotte recently watched all of the Star Wars movies, our focus the second day was on everything in a galaxy far, far away! Charlotte really connected with the dark side of the force. 😳😂 We also enjoyed lunch at 50’s Prime Time Cafe, hopped on the Skyliner for a mid-day break back in the room, watched the Olympics, went back out to EPCOT, and finally ended the night with Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom. I cried, of course. 🥲

We snuck in a couple of days at Walt Disney World before school started! Our first day was spent at Magic Kingdom, hitting up our favorite rides and checking out some new ones, too! We loved TRON Lightcycle/Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! We utilized the new Lighting Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass systems and really maxed out our day!

Our last day in Boston was Father’s Day, so we had to start the day off with donuts! Kane’s Donuts was recommended by a local friend and it did not disappoint! Then, we headed to the Boston Tea Party Museum where we participated in a reenactment. HUZZAH! Then off to Harvard for a student-led tour. I think that counts as Emmett’s first college visit. Then over to MIT where we discovered “Charlotte’s Way” and Area Four Pizza. Back to the room to relax before heading out to explore Chinatown. Finally, we capped off the evening with dinner at Cheer’s and a perfectly beautiful stroll back to the hotel. We’ll be back, Beantown!

Our second day in Boston was the stuff dreams are made of. We started the day with a train ride to Salem where we took a Kids Historical Tour led by a 6th grade history teacher. She was an amazing tour guide and really brought history to life! We visited sites and a memorial related to the Salem Witch Trials and ate lunch at a fantastic seafood restaurant that happens to be in the building where Alexander Graham Bell made the very first telephone call! Then we visited the Witch House and the haunted Ropes Mansion (Allison’s house from Hocus Pocus).

Then the event we had been looking forward to for months leading up to the trip… A VIP Tour of Fenway Park followed by a Yankees v. Red Sox game! ⚾️ The tour included being on the field for batting practice. I may have cried a little when I stepped onto the dirt and saw my beloved Yankees. 💙 The whole evening was surreal. While the outcome of the game was not what I had hoped for, I will treasure the memories made with family and dear friends. It was a core memory for sure and I think I’ve sufficiently converted my kids to Yankee fans for life!

Our first full day in Boston! We took a tour of the Freedom Trail, visited Paul Revere’s House, got cannolis from Modern Pastry, rode the subway, ate lunch at Quincy Market, worked out/swam at the hotel, and had dinner at Saltie Girl. It was a perfect day. ❤️

Universal Safety

First things first, let’s talk health and safety... As some of you know, I am high risk due to a pre-existing condition, so this was of the utmost importance for us to consider traveling during a pandemic. I am thrilled to report that this was also important to Universal and they really knocked it out of the park. Daily temperature checks were required, along with mandatory face masks. Hand sanitizer was provided by Universal and every guest was required to use it prior to boarding an attraction; it was also available when exiting an attraction. Every queue was modified with social distancing markers, keeping guests at least 6 feet apart at all times. Many attraction vehicles were outfitted with plexiglass, or families were seated in separate vehicles. Outdoor seating was available at restaurants, with tables indoors more than 6 feet apart. I could go on and on! We didn’t see anyone complaining and most guests happily complied. After all, we were having the time of our lives! We truly felt safe and comfortable and I can’t praise Universal enough for ensuring a wonderful guest experience!
