It’s cooler in the country! Bring your friends and dogs and enjoy the cool, clear rushing water at the spring-fed creek. On Airbnb we rent our treehouse cabins 2 hours north of Nola, 1.25 hours from Baton Rouge, and 2 hours south of Jackson.

We have weekday openings in October for Fallen Tree. The days are warm and the nights are lovely and cool. Owls are nesting near Fallen Tree and calling to each other from eight o’clock until eleven. Not loud, but interesting sounds off in the woods.

This is at my place, a fossil-filled spring-fed creek. While down there yesterday, I noticed a few sounds: burbling water with occasional tinkling as the rocks pushed downstream. In the Game of Thrones, Blackfish and Kat are in the castle in The Riverlands, looking out a wide castle window at the river below. It’s a particularly stressful time in GOT for Blackfish and Kat: war with the Lannisters, and with it the dozens of dead and captured —much weighs heavy on this pairs shoulders. The Blackfish rubs his beard and says, “There are some places in the world where absolutely nothing is happening.” They gaze back through the window at the river flowing below. “Sometimes it is good to remember this.” (photo by Tony)

We’re only 2 hours and fifteen minutes from New Orleans and 90 minutes from Jackson. Yes! There’s still time to cool off in the spring-fed creek, and we have weekday openings in September! Gather your best friends (and dogs) for a relaxing stay on the edge of the Homochitto National Forest.
