One of my favorite moments from our time bellow the Antarctic circle was once we entered the sea ice.. the combination of calm still water, and the tiles of the broken up sea ice created a perfect foreground for the incredible atmosphere and light in the background mountains of Antarctica. Today we wish The Boss (Sir Ernest Shackleton) a very Happy Birthday. We are lucky to visit his gravesite regularly in Grytviken South Georgia, share his incredible life story with our guests, and cheers him with a dram of whiskey. This year, we were also fortunate to pay a visit to Cape Rosa - the only landing site on the western coast of South Georgia and the location of Shackleton's first landfall after the harrowing James Caird voyage.

I have been lucky enough to visit this special place several times. It never gets old."

"The polar night in Antarctica is the ultimate extreme camping experience! When I decided to take an expedition to the 7th continent, I had no idea camping was a possibility. There are no hotels and unless you work at a research base, this is the only way you can actually sleep overnight on land. Mornings like these 😍
"This morning I woke up to a pod of whales all around the ship that I could see outside my bedroom window and was bigger than I could count. Then the weather was so warm and beautiful in Neko Harbor that for a while I had to take off both coats, my hat, my scarf, and my gloves!...Suffice it to say… this has been (and continues to be) one of the greatest experiences and privileges of my lifetime. Thank you to everyone at Polar Latitudes from the bottom of my heart!!!"
