Greetings, Earthlings!
Not only is today the 50th anniversary of "Earth Day" (isn't every day Earth Day?!), it is also the peak of the Lyrid meteor shower in the midst of International Dark Sky Week.

Our travel at the moment is quite limited, yet we can still thrill to the sights and sounds of our incredible Earth. I encourage you to get outside, no matter the weather, and really see the glory of Nature around you. If you are confined to an apartment and unable to see Nature from your window, books and the screen can work as well. Even though we feel so isolated at the moment, WE TRULY ARE ALL CONNECTED - humans across the planet, animals, plants, fungi, the oceans - and what a perfect opportunity today to take a few moments to strengthen that knowing inside of us.

And then when our dark skies arrive this evening, wrap yourself in a cozy jacket, step outside and look up. Hopefully the sky will be clear and you will be able to see the magic of a few meteors!

January... said to be named for the two-headed Roman god JANUS, who looks backward at the past and forward into the future (see graphic). Have you taken time to reflect on your 2019, harvesting the joys and lessons and letting go of the rest? January is a wonderful month in which to then look inside of yourself for the journeys you want to plan for 2020. A much-quoted saying from the ancient Chinese sage Lao Tzu reminds us that "The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step."

Janus is also a god of transitions, and January does seem to be that kind of a month. The frenzy of the holidays has ended, and here we are in the cold and still-dark, with summer seemingly far away. How are you, where are you, in this winter passage of time? Have you been able to breathe deeply and embrace the brisk air and stark treescape as well as nestle into the indoor coziness of January? Or do you find yourself longing for the warmth and light?

Such a wonderful trip to London with Rowan in June! Taking our kids overseas is one of the most amazing gifts we can give them - helping them learn how to get around in a foreign country, eating different food, seeing how things work differently overseas. And of course seeing iconic monuments in an iconic city!
